Does the job
Does the job. No data problems. No physical failures. I bought two and gave one to my coworker and I kept one. New devices don't have serial ports, so it's important to have one of these if you do any sort of firewall/switch work. Decent price, no drivers to install. Just tell PuTTY what COM you are using, and boom - working as normal. If you found this item, you clearly know you need it and just need confirmation that this item works. It's long enough and rolls back up nicely. No reason to not get this hoping to get a better deal.

Manual check for device install is needed
This cable works greatPlug it in to your USB portGo to device managerInstall com portCheck com port ( com3 in my case)Open putty and select serial.Works like a charmOnly downside is that you need a driver to get the com port installed ( windows update in my case ) as it does not install a default driverBut after that part it works really nice :)Atleast for windows 10 ^^

Confirm that it isn’t a USB-C unit
I received a USB-C unit. Not what I needed or was expecting but figured it out and was able to do what was needed.

Great cable to get from USB only computer into serial port of most switches
Great cable to get from USB only computer into serial port of most switches. Used to use a USB-to-serial dongle, then serial cable with RJ-45 end to get into a switch. Only caveat is the USB end broke on 2 of the 5 cables I bought for my engineers to use.

This works great, I've used it both with Cisco and HP switches. Easy to install, just plug it in with Windows 10. Used Putty.exe and set it to the COM port that appeared in device manager after the driver installed automatically.Super easy and works well, right out of the box can't beat that!

Works with Ubuntu and Cisco
This works fine on Ubuntu, particularly with PuTTY. You will need to add your user account to the 'dialout' group and reboot, then 'dmesg' to determine which of the '/dev/ttyUSBx' it has bound to.Use it frequently with Cisco devices.
