Excellent product! (update)
I just today opened my first jar of sauerkraut made with these lids and the tempered glass weights that Mason Jar Living sells here on amazon and I'm really happy with the sauerkraut I had with lunch. Delicious! I followed a recipe that was in a link provided by Trellis and Co. which made it super easy to put together a batch of kraut in a quart mason jar. I'm impressed with the lid. I don't have experience to draw from but all I can say that for my first time fermenting these lids made things really easy. I love that fact that they're stainless steel and that they'll last a while, hopefully the silicone valve will remain available for as long. The one thing that I have to mention, and the reason I can only give four stars, is that the lids I received are a little bit out of round. I measured one today and it's about 3//32 of an inch out of round. The lid works fine, conforming to the jar as it's tightened. It just bugs me when I put a lid on a glass jar and it binds a bit upon tightening. I think this is a great product. I've got six weights and three lids so I'll probably get three more. My first ferment went really well.UPDATE 8/2/17 I thought I would come back and update my review after using these for a few months. I originally bought 3 lids and found that I was running out of sauerkraut too often, so I bought 3 more and have been eating sauerkraut a couple times a day for a few months now. It's very healthy stuff, good for the mood also. I don't buy probiotics in pill form anymore. I'm impressed that I have not had one failure, not one bad batch with these lids. I've lost count on how many batches I've made, well over a dozen. It's important to leave a little room(1/2-3/4") at the top of the jar so the brine has a place to go instead of out the vent. I also add salt by weight, using a 2% ratio of salt to cabbage. If it's warm I use a 2.5% ratio and all has gone well. I'm using the method I learned from the website Trellis and Co. turned me on to(make sauerkraut dot com), basically for a quart jar it's 800 grams of cabbage to 16 grams of sea salt (I use Redmond Real Salt). Great product, can't wait to try out the new springs!9/9/19 updateI've been using these new thicker (better!) lids along with the pickle helix for several batches of sauerkraut now and I am very happy with how these things work. I have not used my glass weights since I've tried the helix (springs) I still use the original Trellis + Co. lids I bought a couple of years ago and they work just fine. This new version lid is thicker and better, easier and more pleasant to use. Excellent product, well done Trellis + Co. !

Lids
These work great for fermenting. Use them all the time. I would buy more.

Easy peasy fermenting lids
I love these fermenting lids. I aleady have the springs that go with them. I did not have any leakage, no burping of the jar, It was just easy. I filled my jars, put the spring in and closed it up. I have made fermented snap beans, pickles, and sauerkraut... The only negative is that the little silicone valve came off and got lost on the ones that I have already. These were purchased as replacements due to that.

Trellis fermentation covers
I purchased and used 6 of these to make great batches of fermented cabbage and beets. Then, after 2 uses, several of them failed and mold creeped into my jars. Obviously, there was air entering that should have not been in. It seemed like the little silicone stoppers on the top had loosened with time since the hole they sit in has sharp edges and it weakens them if removed for cleaning. In addition, the silicone gasket is hard and makes it difficult to close and have a good seal (original tops have a pliable rubber that makes an airtight seal). All in all, with my last batch, I had 4 out of 5 jars get mold. This is not a good track record for such an overpriced product. I am looking for an alternative that will work more than a couple of times!! Would not recommend :(

Perfect lids for making sauerkraut
These lids are the best. I've made sauerkraut for years using a lot of different methods...I've also bought several different types of lids that I did not ever have luck with. I use a crock which I have always loved...but when it has fermented you still need to transfer it to your jars. With these lids, you prepare it in the jars, put the lid on and that's it..your done. Super easy. I love them.

Rusted
I was unhappy with these. They rusted after the first use.

Wonderful, convenient, trustworthy
Great design! Great rust-proof stainless steel base. Sleek design as opposed to bulky external fermentation locks. This one just as well as the external types to keep my jars and my ferments safe, and I actually prefer it to the others, as it is more convenient when I have to open to stir then replace the lid. I love that they came in compostable packaging, that really makes me feel as though the seller cares.
