Wow, so much stuff glows under a black light. I know about certain light colors of fabric - especially white, but not that lint, dust and lots of different cleaning products - glow! I mean, check out my curtains - in the picture - that glow. That is fabric softener residue, and it's not evenly spread out over the fabric. Makes me wonder just how clean my washer really is getting stuff. (I have a newer front loader too).And then all the splashes and spills from kids, OMG. Areas I thought were clean, have spots and splashes even up the walls. So those videos where they show someone using a black light at a motel and you see stuff glow all over, even the ceiling - well that's not all bodily fluids!! Think champagne slashing and getting everywhere, including the ceiling.The only areas in my home that didn't have something glowing, were the recently painted walls.I got this to help me locate any cat spray, as I've seen a few spots on a closet door, from a neutered male cat. It doesn't have that cat urine odor, but I still see the tell tail dot and streak where it's run down the wall where he's sprayed, (and yes, females spray too). So, without the odor to sniff out spots I thought, hey blacklight should help me out. Ohhh heck no! Well, it does, but I didn't bargain for the whole house glowing, even the carpet after it was freshly cleaned. That wasn't expected.Glowing dust really blew my mind - little dots on the furniture and piles in the corners of the rooms.So, if you really want to see what actually glows in your house - get this and brace yourself.As for the actual flashlight, it is sturdy, well made and take 3 AA+ batteries to power it. Has a nice hand feel, with some weight to it and it turns on with a simple click of the button on the end. Super easy to use.This is also a must have tool for anyone who goes clubbing where there is a blacklight being used - you need to check your clothing prior to leaving home, as you might find spots that glow in all the wrong places!!

Works well in locating cat messes. Good price.

UPDATE: After one use, the light sat on my desk. I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't light. I read through the comments and tried a few of the suggestions. I then looked at the (3) negative springs on the battery holder. They are weak and tiny, so it's hard to see, but there looked to be some corrosion on each spring. I used a qtip and rubbing alcohol, cleaning the top loop of each spring. TADA , it works like new. Hopefully that takes care of the issue and may help someone else in the same boat. Well built for the money. It has a little heft to it, so it doesn't feel cheap.

Bought this for hunting Yooperlites on a recent trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. While it worked after a fashion, the beam was not really strong enough for anything other than short distances. It's great for detecting pet stains, though!

I have 2 geriatric dogs, one with kidney disease, and they started having accidents on my dining room rug. I have cleaned the spots when I caught them but I couldn’t get rid of the faint lingering smell on humid days. (Everyone else says they never smell it but I do!) Decided to try one of these lights. I’m both delighted and horrified. My dogs clearly have had multiple accidents under the dining room table that I never knew of. So now, I have an attainable goal to get that rug cleaned with the help of this little light.Also very pleased that the dining room rug is the only area in my house that i detected dog pee (it’s also the only area I caught the faint smell).So far no issues and I had it on a long time with generic batteries (not my “good batteries”).

What a neat little light. I have 4 cats and one dog in the house and sometimes an accident will happen.This is great to have so area can be treated quickly. It's very well made and the light covers a good amountof flooring. I had one of those pin lights a few years ago and this is so much better. Price was good and itwas well packaged.

Save your money. I got to use this twice, before it broke, tried 2 sets of new batteries. These things are meant to be disposable really.. like most of these cheap, poorly made chinese manufactured products... they want you to buy another of the same product.. but with this one, it couldn't even last for a few months before breaking. Unfortunately.. I did buy another one.. that's actually the one I am reviewing , this is the 2nd one I own, but this review is for the first one.. nonetheless, the same product. I only bought it again because I needed a blacklight, and I had an amazon credit. I've got some really cool and uv light, but i don't wanna bring it places where I know I'm gonna be in a questionable location. That is why I got this cheap one. But these things are basically meant to break after the return window, or maybe get you a little bit of use after it. The internal parts burn out or something. and it stops working.Surely there is another inexpensive uv light out there that isn't a total piece of garbage. Do your best to find it, because this one is total trash!

Not Very Strong;) However Can see some Spots? Love the idea of this for pet stains … hmmm not sure it’s worth buying….
