Picked out by a four year old!
Walking around a big box store in early December, this particular toy caught my 4 year old's eye while sitting on the shelf. With a quick scan of my Amazon phone app...I noticed that it was on sale for a bit cheaper at the time. With a click click there...it was on it's way. When it arrived at my doorstep (2 days later...man gotta love prime), I noticed that the box was really small compared to what I saw in the store. It was sent in what Amazon calls "Frustration Free Packaging". When I opened the box up, I've got to say that frustration free packaging is the ticket! Simply slide it out of the box...done! No undoing plastic bolts at the bottom...using scissors to cut cardboard etc. It was very simple indeed. The boat is well made and seems pretty durable. It is supposed to float but we haven't (and probably will not) tried that. The crane at the front of the boat is pretty much a bathtub toy. It pulls out and is squeezable so it will allow water to be sucked in and squirted out. The helicopter is made out of the same stuff. It comes with a Matchbox car and a pretty cool shark in which you can push down on his dorsal fin and he will open and close his mouth. This actually seems to be my son's favorite part of the whole thing. There is also a button that will allow the raft and ramp to release. The car "rides" on top of the raft and I guess this will "allow it to get to shore". There are other ramps and doors/compartments that you can put other cars in or have them drive up onto the boat. There is a crane that will capture the shark and this is another feature that my son likes. The boat does have small wheels on the bottom that will allow it to move easily across the floor...even carpet. It definitely is a pretty cool toy and it appears to be durable enough to survive a 4 year old. The shark crane is probably the weakest piece and will need the most care. It's nice to have a Matchbox/Hot Wheel toy that doesn't require different track components and small pieces. I remember having these "briefcase cities" when I was a kid and all you had to do was open them up and they were ready to play your cars on. You can't find stuff like that now. It is all individual pieces or add ons with lots of small parts. The other cool thing about this toy is that it opens up more imaginative play with small cars. Typically my son just want's to run them on a track and crash them. This particular toy adds a new dimension to Matchbox car play and I hope it encourages something alternative to racing/crashing. Also, with his interest in the shark...who knows...maybe this will make him curious about the ocean. Wouldn't it be cool if this toy could inspire my child to be the next Jacques Cousteau?!? Ha...probably not...but parents can dream too! At any rate...this is a toy that caught the eye of a four year old and he seems to be having a great time with it. I recommend!I've included a few photos. You can see the bottom of the boat and the wheels. Notice the white between the gaps at the bottom? It's styrofoam to help the boat float. The boat has all kinds of little ramps and doorways to move the cars about. One thing cool is that if you start the car at the upper blue ramp...you can lift this ramp sending the car down the track to the smaller "life boat". When it hits inside the life boat, it throws a switch that will send the boat ramp off and the life boat can "escape" with the car inside. We use it to escape shark attacks of course.

The mailman brought that box for me?
Ordered this for my grandson for his birthday gift. I had it shipped to his home in his name(he turned 5) and it was very cool for him to get a package from the mail man addressed to just him. When he opened it and seen it he was jumping about because it was something that he wanted bad. He likes it a lot and has had a lot of fun with it.

Hours of Entertainment!
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my nephews, ages 3 and 5 along with the Matchbox Misson: Undersea Squib Sub Playset. To say they love it is putting it mildly! This toy can be used in or out of the bath (it has wheels to roll on the ground), although the boys use it in the bath most of the time. I've been told that they ask to take baths just because they want to play with the ship. This is a fairly large sized toy, but they can both still fit in the bath along with the ship. It comes with a shark, helicopter, 2 water safe cars, and the boats' cannon shoots out water when squeezed. There are enough fun items that come with this so that even when shared, there's no fighting over this toy. The crane on the back of the ship is used to "rescue" the shark, but believe me, the boys take turns making the shark crazily attack the ship, jump out of the water, etc, and they catch the vicious shark and haul it onto the boat with the crane. If you want to be the cool aunt like me, buy this toy. My niece who is 9 also wanted to play with it (not in the bath, of course) and tried to pretend she was just being nice by playing with the boys but I knew better! It's just a fun toy for boys or girls and a unique gift to give as well.

Not worth it!
This item is not worth the money. It hardly floats and is made out of cheap plastic. It was an awful buy.

This is a great toy, in or out of the water
This is a great toy, in or out of the water. It is LARGE, but that's part of it's appeal I think. The wheels on the bottom make it glide smoothly on dry land. As soon as I put my boys in the tub with this thing I leaned over the edge and started playing with it too, there are a lot of different things to do on it such as send a car down the ramp and be ejected onto the raft, which works impressively well ! The helicopter and turret on the front of the boat are water squirters. The shark is great, it's fun to make him chomp up the cars and catching him with the craneOne thing I was worried about was that after bath-time was over that this thing would hold on to water eventually becoming moldy, we've had quite a few bath toys do that, especially squirters. The boat requires a few shakes to get the water out and then dries quickly, leaving no water inside. The squirters empty easily and there is no water shaking around to get stagnant. All in all, a great toy, can't think of any negatives!

Great toy, except the Sharks mouth stopped closing after playing with it for the first time.

It's just a big boat, but they love it!
Our boys love this toy. I resisted getting it because it just seemed like a big boat to me (which it is), but for some reason it is all my 5 year old son wanted for Christmas! Well, he loves it and so does his little brother! It can be used in the water or on "dry land", and it has a lot of little things that come with it. They love to use it both ways, and they fight over the shark and the car all the time. I don't know why it is so special to them, but even now after 2 months, they still love it and play with it daily! The toy is pretty sturdy, and seems like it will last a while. All of the paint on all the pieces has held up over 2 months worth of baths, so that's good!
