Needed to removed loctited screws off an optic plate that was on a g40 slide, previous owner didn't understand what a drop is. Went from lowest debur size and extractor starting at 8 till 5 before I was able to get both screws out extractor 8 was rendered not reusable 7 was fine but could not extract would slip same all the way down to size 5 when the debur tool was able to get both out and revealed excess loctite. If it wasn't for that still think size 8 would have been rendered useless but 7 might have been able to get the screws out mind you I heated the screws with a small cigar torch to get the loctite to ease up before each attempt. Smaller sizes may be a one time use case if at all from 8 and up rest seem solid didn't like the bit holder or adapter to much play had my own which I used with minimal play while in use.

I seldom write reviews unless a product is either better than sliced bread or is so poor that people need to be warned. This tool is the latter. I had to remove a bunch of old aluminum deck screws that are so soft, that the phillips head on many had stripped somewhat on installation making extraction difficult. I have used screw extractors before, am not new to construction or automotive/mechanical work and overall have somewhat of an idea what I am talking about when it comes to tools of this nature. I knew the kit was cheap and would likely need to have the drill bits swapped out with standard bits after a few screws but was hopeful that soft aluminum would not dull them within the first screw head. I was wrong and the drill bits would not get all the way into the first screw before they stopped cutting. I changed sizes and dulled two other screw bits in one head before I gave up and got my box of regular drill bits to make the pilot holes. I tried four sizes of the extractors with different sized bits and only one screw backed out with the extractor. I started to really look at the extractor flutes and noticed that they are extremely shallow and will not cut into the metal of the pilot hole and actually grip the shoulder to allow extraction. Think of the extractor as sort of a reverse tap that needs to cut a thread and then the taper in the extractor in essence tightens against the pilot hole as its screwed in creating enough resistance that the screw backs out instead of cutting deeper and wider in the pilot hole. Simple in design but does require proper design. I did not test them against steel bolts but since the drilling bits dulled on aluminum instantly, I felt that there was no reason to even try. Yes, I read the instructions just incase these were different than others that I have used and yes, I used reverse rotation like the instructions call for. I had low expectations for a $20 tool kit from China and these even failed to live up to my low expectations. I would normally toss them into my toolbox in the hope that one would save my rear late at night when working on a car or piece of equipment and thereby make the entire purchase worth it but these are so poor, I am returning them out of principle. In all likelihood, I will pay nearly the cost of the kit for one proper sized and functioning extractor bit and I knew it so I guess the fault lays on my shoulders. I knew better to trust this low cost garbage but alas, I apparently have not fully learned my lesson. Buyer beware, these are not even hobby quality bits.
