Mel Bay Fun With the Pan Flute Paperback – September 1, 1997

This pan flute was quite inexpensive and some of that shows in the quality. It is indeed an attractive piece, but takes awhile to learn how to make good sounds. Some of the pipes are not tuned correctly with no way to change them. Having said that, I now thoroughly enjoy playing this pan flute. The three octave range is fun, and this flute is capable of some beautiful tones. It may take some practice to produce any sound at all, but for the beginner the range of tones coupled with the inexpensive price makes this a good buy.

This is a great book. I found a very pretty pan flute on amazon and bought this book to go with the instrument. It is a gift for my granddaughter who plays the flute in a marching band. I know nothing about playing this instrument but it has a very pretty sound when you just blow on it. The book has great detail and is very colorful. It has lots of sheet music and some instruction. The book is perfect for a beginner on the pan flute.

This book has great selections of songs to play on the pan flute. It also comes with a CD, which I was pleasantly surprised for. The one thing I wasn't expecting was the low quality of the printing. The book is very floppy and the paper inside feels like normal printer paper. Great content, not so great printing job.

What else can one say about Mel Bay? Pan pipes are not as easy to play as Zamfir makes it appear. As with harmonicas, proper technique can let you get sharps and flats. This book will help you get to the point where you can fool others into thinking the pan pipes are easy.

At least the book was the real thing now I will have to get ahold of a real pan flute so that I can use the book to learn how to play

Not too impressed. MB's manuals are usually very well done. This was almost like a "since I have nothing better to do..."

Great book! It is so hard to find sheet music for the Panflute! I love all Mel Bay's Instruction books.
