Best smartphone to date
Got the phone today. This is the best android phone up till now. I have owned all phones ( iPhone 7 plus, Samsung S7) and currently I own one plus 3t, and this one is so far the best in term of performance and features.. The only phone that can potentially beat it is the soon coming samsung S8. I will test the phone for one more week before I give my final conclusion but so far that thing is a beast!Update on 5/10/2017: I still love this phone. Actually I tried the Samsung S8 for one one week and this one beats it in every feature. Better battery life, faster performance, much better finger print location and performance and surprisingly much better pictures quality. S8 didn't update its camera much. It sill makes good pictures but the portrait effect on the mate 9 pro is unbelievable! The dual camera lens is a must for a flagship phone. The blurring of the background can't be reproduced by a software tweak . Sorry S8, but you couldn't fool us with minor software update on the cam.Yes. It is not water resistant and it doesn't have wireless charging but those are minor in comparison to the features I mentioned above. And finally, the mate 9 pro is much thinner and more enjoyable to use than the S8 plus ( which is the one I bought). The P9 pro is the best phone so far.So I am keeping the mate 9 pro and returning the S8 plus.I had the phone for several months now and it is still stunning in performance and battery life. Can't think of a better phone. Tried the HTC U11 but decided to keep my mate 9 pro.How can you beat 128Gb, 6 gig of ram, 400mah battery, and amazing dual lens camera?! There are few software glitches that huawei needs to address through a simple updates. Nothing serious but a little nuisance. My advice is to use Nova launcher ( super fast), and use messages from Google as your default message app ( the default message app has glitches) and use nine email as your exchange email app, and the phone will be insanely fast and reliable. Can't wait for huawei mate 10 in November!

Took the phone into AT&T and after 2 hours of trouble shooting they recommended I return the phone
I received an International phone that will not work properly in the US. Calls and text messages cannot be made unless a call or text is received first. Took the phone into AT&T and after 2 hours of trouble shooting they recommended I return the phone. Very disappointed - this is my second Huawei device and I was looking forward to the upgraded model.

Good First Impressions
First impressions are going great! Jumping to this from a Galaxy S4 and I love everything about it so far. The camera is great and I can't wait to test it out on vacation. The processing power of this phone also stands out to me because I could never run certain apps without lag issues or having them crash outright. The little case it comes with was a nice touch but I'm not a fan of the earbuds. Certain other things needed tweaking in the phone such as apps that they try forcing you to sign up for (all can be skipped over and/or disabled), the original keyboard is very cramped (easy to change), and few of the security settings needed to be changed (again easy enough) but other than that it's going great. The default speaker is sub par compared to to everything else but I seldomly use that anyway so that's not an issue for me. I'll update this review as time goes on.Update as of 6/15/17: the flash is great and makes and excellent flashlight, the settings are super customizable, and the screen is the smoothest I've ever handled. Only downside so far is the audio output on the aux port isn't very good. I tried the same song using the same audio file with a pair of bose earbuds and every aspect seems dampened on huawei's phone compared to a galaxy s5 or iphone 6. And the built in speaker isn't the best either but I primarily listen to music through Bluetooth speakers so this isn't a huge issue for me.

Best phone ever
I have had this phone now for about 2 months and absolutely love it. It took a bit to figure out how to work it ins and outs and how to convince it that I'm in America and not the United Kingdom. However that being said now that I have it all fine-tuned it is hands-down the best phone I've ever had. I've had iPhones, I've had Samsung Galaxies I've had Motorola's comma I've had blackberries. The song was worth every penny. So glad I got it instead of the new Galaxy S8

Decent, but not worth $700
Coming from a ZTE Axon Pro, and then a Samsung Note 5, I was expecting to be blown away by this phone. It's ok, but in hindsight I should have went with a ZTE Axon 7 for half the price. Plenty of other reviews on here covered the positive aspects (maybe compensated reviews?), so I will focus on reasons why this phone isn't worth $700 when a nearly equal device like the Axon 7 can be had for $350 or less. I've noticed the Huawei operationing system can be glitchy interacting with some Android apps. This phone was supposed to be lightening fast (even intuitive?) compared to my old phones, but it's not. My online banking app, for example, takes over 15 seconds to load. In other apps, there is no discernable speed difference between the Mate 9 Pro and my two old phones. Yes the phone comes with an impressive 6GB RAM, but with all apps closed, over 3GB are still in use - which indicates the operating system is bloated. The only apparent advantage this phone has over the others is battery life. In short, your money is better spent on a ZTE Axon 7 or 8. Of all phones Ive owned in the past few years, the ZTE was the greatest overall value of build quality, performance, and value added features like an upgraded DAC for a premium audio experience, and the $50 JBL headphones that came packaged with the phone.

Malfunctioning after few months
The phone worked very well for about 6-7 months then it started malfunctioning. Rear camera does not stay on focus and vibration does not work anymore. A factory reset did not solve the problems. Very disappointing. In my experience not a very durable product.
