Worked Great
We needed another KVM for a new rack we had added for new servers and storage. This worked great and installed quickly and easily.

Maybe its me
You know what ... I give in. Maybe its me. But for some reason these racks do not like me and this one is no different. This is the second time that I have gone to put the item into the rack and the sliding rails essentially suck and fall apart.I could not for the life of me get this to slide into the rails. Not happy at all.

Big screen, works just like you think it would
Works very well. The cord-management arm on the back of the unit sometimes catches on the sliding rails, preventing the monitor from being pushed all the way back into the rack. A little wiggle is enough to free it, but it's still enough of a minor annoyance to keep me from giving it 5 stars. My unit arrived with a broken mounting rail. Vertiv's customer service was fast and helpful, and sent me a replacement rail at no cost.

Nice console but glides can be a problem
Review of LRA only:This unit has glides that are too deep for my Middle Atlantic Slim 5 rack. My rack is 19" deep and the Avocent glides require a 24" deep rack. Nowhere in the description or online documentation is this stated. I used the StarTech.com Rail Depth Adapter Kit for Server Racks - 4" Rack Extender to make things work. Unfortunately, after about the 3rd time I installed the console in the glides, many of the metal parts of the glides broke off rendering them unusable. The console is very heavy and does not smoothly fit into the glides so you need to be very careful. The console itself is very well built. If the glides were better, this would be a 4-5 star product.Other notes:-The VGA and USB cables are included and are permanently connected to the console.-By connecting the VGA and USB, I was able to control my Win10 computer. No additional software needed.-The main negative of the console is the too-small touchpad. It's functional, but a bigger one would have been nice.-The 1600x1200 resolution seems to be better than most competing products. It still doesn't look very sharp compared to a basic 1920x1080 monitor.

Good Console - Built Tough Enough To Take A Lot Of Use
The first thing I noted was that this arrived in a large box that has HEAVY stickers plastered on every side. I somehow expected that it would arrive in one piece, but the inside had a few extra pieces in it depending on how you will install it (picture of opened box attached). This is obviously intended to be rack-mounted, but I’m using it in a closet at the house, without a rack, so I actually didn’t need to assemble the entire thing. I have a decent home-server and needed something exactly like this, but in hindsight, this might be a bit overkill for my set-up. It works perfectly though. It comes hard wired to plug directly into a UPS, but you have the ability to replace that cord for a standard cable. You do not have the option to replace the monitor cable for aHere are the rest of my observations:I saw another review that erroneously said this has three USB ports. This actually has two USB ports (front of the keyboard, accessible when the lid is open). The third USB cable coming from the back of the unit is used for the trackpad. The only connection for this is a VGA connector (DE-15), which is great for the vast majority of graphics cards on a server, but if you’re using an old gaming computer as a home server, you might need a DVI adapter. There are no protectors on the rails and I almost snapped one of the rail guides off when unpacking.Opening up the screen, it takes about 5-7 seconds to get the screen back.I almost missed the windows button because it’s labeled with a “WIND” instead of the windows logo. Depending on what OS you’re running, this might not matter at all.The graphics are okay. Since I’m using a re-appropriated home unit, I found the ideal setting for this monitor was 1366x768. I had no issues with this at all – but since this also serves as my Plex Server, I tried to watch a movie. It wasn’t terrible. No by any means. I know most people won’t be watching HD videos on this – but it’s not a bad monitor for more than just reading logs and performing routine maintenance. If there was a down-side, it’s the nest of wires that are coming off the back. They are all necessary (except perhaps for the two wires for the two USB ports) but they seemed to take up a lot of room quickly.Overall this is perfect for the function that it fits. I am quite sure that it will function perfectly in a rack, and it feels on par or better than any rack-mount that I’ve used at work. Again – for a home server it might actually be overkill, but this is a very good product. It’s priced a bit high, but it exudes a professional component, and the keyboard looks like it could survive a nuclear blast. No issues at all.
