Excellent professional quality at an affordable price
The media could not be loaded. I'm really impressed with this set of 120 oil-based Castle Arts colored pencils. The colors are intense, vibrant and with excellent pigmentation. The texture is soft, creamy and easily slides on the paper, allowing you to blur and mix tones effortlessly, resulting in very professional gradients.Being oil-based, pencils do not break easily when sharpened and offer a more durable and less waxy finish than wax-based pencils. This makes them ideal for detailed illustrations, realistic works or any technique that requires multiple layers. They come in a very well organized presentation, with layered trays and visible color labels. The case is sturdy and practical for storing and transporting. In addition, the range of colors is very complete, including skin tones, grays, metallics and a wide variety of greens and blues.Without a doubt, it is an excellent option for both advanced artists and those looking to improve their level with quality tools and are looking for a smooth, detailed and professional finish. Totally recommended!

Budget friendly pencils that fall between prismas and polychromos-
When I first started coloring, I bought the standard set of Castle Arts pencils (not the Gold Standard pencils), but found them difficult to work with- I thought they were scratchy, hard to blend, and difficult to lay down color. I read some reviews, and tried out some other pencils. Fast forward two years, and I've amassed quite a collection of pencils that I love. Recently, I'd heard good things about the Gold Standard pencils, and decided to give the Castle Arts another try. I've been very pleasantly surprised! The color range is fantastic, and they are a nice "in between" pencil. The color lays down easily, and they have a slightly creamy texture that blends well (similar to a prismacolor) but they keep a sharper point and don't crumble/break easily or give off a lot of dust (more like a poly), which makes them great for smaller detail work. They also mix well with the Castle Arts pastel pencils (which I also highly recommend) and that allows for a wider range of light colors/highlights. The only downside is that they don't erase as well as some others-but that seems a small tradeoff for a nice basic pencil that I can (and do) use often. I can recommend these are a good set for beginners, as well as a great addition for someone more advanced.

Lovely pencils worth the extra money paid
Amazing pencils that blend and create beautiful art. I can't draw so I love using these in coloring books. They get a bit more soft than I like when it gets warm outside, but if I put these in the fridge for a bit they firm up just fine 🙂 100% worth the extra money I paid for these.

Great beginner set!
A nice set for a beginner. Colored pencils are not my normal medium, so buying this set was a bit of a experiment, but I was happy with the quality and color variety of the pencils for the price. The instruction guides are helpful, and the case of good quality.

Lots of brilliant colors easy to use works well on cheap coloring book paper.
I love these pencils. They help me to practice my values, Hughes shades, contrast, and color study as I use them in coloring books mostly, I have not stepped out of the coloring book real to start actually doing my own custom painting with them I’ve tried using alcohol to help smooth out And blend some of the colors. but they do work well with orderless mineral spirits. They are vibrant creamy, smooth, texture satisfying to work with and if you look at the photos, I’m sharing. I think you’ll agree. they do complete a beautiful rendering in a coloring book on cheap paper. I haven’t dared to try them on artist grade paper yes but I’m planning to in the future.

Beautiful pencils, strong colors, easily sharpened, beautiful tin.
Beautiful set of watercolor pencils. Well thought out colors, great tin to store and protect them. Lovely depth of color. Strong not easily broken lead - save the Prussian blue. For some reason, in each set, Prussian blue breaks most easily. But I don’t use it all that often, so I don’t worry!
