Microsoft Access 2016 Programming Pocket Primer

Perfect introduction to VBA for many people
Perfect -- I am an Access developer, do not know VBA at all, and only used it a few times by simply copying some code found in internet forums. For a while I REALY have wanted to learn it, but was not able to find anything helpful. I tried Shepherd - Access 2010 VBA Macro Programming, and Mansfield Mastering VBA for MS Office 2016, but these books seem to fail to start at the beginning. It's as if the authors cannot understand that some people do not know certain things. If you start writing code, without telling me what it means, I'm lost and discouraged, and it goes nowhere. Basically I need another bood to learn the terms that are used in the first pages of these books, You must start somewhare. What does "dim" mean? So technical writers should learn from Korol, who does it perfectly. She is understanding, empathetic enough to see that the reader who is STRUGGLING TO GET STARTED may not know what "dim" means, and is willing to explain it. It's not for the reviewer who already knows and uses VBA, and complains that it's too basic. The title says it's basic. That's what the word "primer" means. I love this book becaause the author knows how to teach --- starting at the very beginning with the very basics and definitions, and building on that in a very logical and do-able way. Anyone who reads this book will have an excellent and well-rounded foundation. It takes you from knowing nothing about VBA to knowing how to write and use VBA, and prepares you for other books if you want to continue with more sophisticated and complex programming.

It's a great companion to Access 2016 Programming by Example: With VBA, XML, and ASP, by the same author.
This book is a good for those interested in going beyond the GUI with Access. By no means is it complete, but has much to reference without filler. I have both this book and the larger by example Access 2016 Programming by Example: With VBA, XML, and ASP. Both are good additions to your library.

Preety good for coding
This is a pretty good starter for VBA programming BUT it is 100% about the code. There is not much guidance for the ACCESS interface.

Five Stars
Just what I was looking for!

Great until the 8th chapter
Great until the 8th chapter...This book was fine until chapter 8, at which point it raced through concepts of classes, objects and class modules--far too quickly for my liking. There could have been an extra chapter or two at least dedicated to these fundamental concepts without reducing the book's value as a short, quick primer. Slowly but steadily wins the race as far as grasping the basic concepts behind classes is concerned. Frankly, I was disappointed with the last two chapters of the book, but nevertheless impressed with the rest of it. Three stars from me--worth the buy if you want to absorb critical VBA programming concepts.

No companion CD
Be careful, if you are buying the kindle version of this book. This author is interested only in selling her books and making fast money. She doesn't provide companion CD nor does she give a link to download the CD content.. She printed library phone number in the book for toll free contact and they don't have answer for kindle version. This is the second book I am buying from this author (by mistake) not noticing the author name, and the same problem with both books. - No Companion CD. So cannot practice hands on exercises. Are you ready? This book is just the portion of another book by the same author - ACCESS 2016 PROGRAMMING BY EXAMPLE: with VBA, [literally copied word to word].

No CD and not much use
Paperback arrived without the CD which is integral to the book as it is written around examples on the disk. Good outline of programming techniques such as loops and conditional statements for anyone unfamiliar with basic programmming topics, but very light on VBA commands for Access.
