yes it detaches, and there is another RJ11 on the other end so you can make a pass thru connection if you need. it's a great tool

no this shown nothing is it is a tool used to givr you a test point

This device is used by mostly telephone technicians. It is plugged into an RJ type jack and provides a connection to each wire in the circuit via the metal lands on each side so test equipment can be attached to the lines

Yes the signal passes through the adapter at all times. By looping the line cord you can create a loop-back using jumpers to test for example a T1 circuit.
