A Great Resource
This is a great resource for those looking for imaginative, unique plays for kids, plays with proven success. It has good opportunities for students with various levels of talent and acting skills to participate. I liked that there are lessons for the kids to learn as well.

Beware: Some Subject Matter Can Be Offensive
I purchased this for my near-11 year old daughter who loves to act along with her friends. After acquiring a book from our local library with humorous shorts scripts/plays for kids, I decided to purchase a book of our own and grabbed this copy right before Christmas. And boy, am I glad I flipped through it before wrapping. What a disappointment. There was no way my husband and I thought this book was appropriate for our daughter. The very first play, entitled "Baby Jesus Does Not Kill Ninja Zombies" begins with one child telling another child that their brother is a player. After one child admits they don't know what a player is, the other retorts, "I don't know. But being a player is cool. And I'm going to be one, just like my brothers." A short while later, in the same play, the character remarks, "My mom says your dad's nose is red 'cause he drinks too much wine". I'll leave out the offensive remarks about Baby Jesus birthed by Mary peeing him out into the hay. Distasteful. If you're a parent attempting to raise your child with good morals, then I recommend you steer clear of this book. Why do we have to sink to such low humors when there is so much more lighthearted and funny things out there for children to see? The play mentioned above is just one of a several in the book I found offensive. Shipping this one back pronto. :-(

Okay for older kids
My plan was to use these plays to read as a dramatic play with 2nd-4th grade kids at home. These are plays for schools, drama teachers. Complicated scripts

Not suitable for kids
Absolutely disgusted that an acting book written for kids literally talks about parents wrestling because dad gets happy pills. This should not be referenced in a book for kids and added nothing to the skit.

Small Casts, but age appropriate
So excited to finally find a book of plays for kids to perform, rather than plays meant to be performed for kids. My big complaint is that most of the plays have a small cast with 5 or fewer characters. As I teach classes with up to 12 kids, I was hoping for larger cast sizes.

Very incoherent and poorly written scenes. Not helpful for the setting I wanted to use it. I teach grades 3-8 theatre classes and these scenes didn't work for any of my classes.
