Great first impressions
Just received it today. Previous obs problems others stated seem to no longer be an issue. Works perfectly with obs. The latency is so low I've been able to pay Mario Odyssey by watching the obs preview. Captures 1080p60 as advertised. Haven't had extended time with it so I'm not giving it a full 5 stars until I've had more time with it. I'll be doing a proper live stream with obs tonight so that should give me a good idea of its performance.Edit: few months inSo far I'm loving this device. The only problem I have is occasionally audio doesn't go through, but a switch switch of which audio interface on the card to use and switching back fixes it, and it only happens when first loading the device, never during the stream.

Filled with Awesomeness
Woohoo! First review! Let me be the first to say.... this thing is awesome, and the "certified refurbished" is a great deal. It came in a brown box with the Razer Ripsaw logo printed in black. Looks very official. The unit inside looked untouched and totally brand new to me. Came with a sealed bag full of cables.I'm not using it for broadcasting gameplay, i'm using it with Open Broadcaster to record video direct from the camer via HDMI cable. As far as I could see, this was the best and least expensive option for video capture, even compared with low-end options, and on top of that, it's a high-end device that also supports 60fps capture, USB3, captures various analog video formats, and has input AND output connectors.A few cheaper options do exist, such as no-name brand chinese knock-offs, (on ebay as low as $40) but definitely steer clear of these, because they can be unstable and need up-to-date drivers for today's o/s, and while they might work today, they might not work with tomorrow's o/s updates. Whenit comes to video capture, you NEED support from a reputable company that will stand behind the product. With Razer Ripsaw, you're in good shape.or severaly limited withI was also impressed with the good support site at razerzone.com, with up to date drivers, support

Great purchase... No issues.
The package came to my house in a secure Amazon style frustration free box. The cords and documentation were included. I purchased this item to see if I could use it with an Elgato HD 60s. I have been able to get both products working. However, if you are attempting to do the same know that if both sources are 1080p then one source will not play smoothly. In OBS you can set the resolution to 720p on one of the devices to have two smoothly functioning products. There are no issues that I have experienced with this refurbished product. There were no scuff marks or scratches, I cannot guarantee your refurbished purchase will be in as good of condition.I wish I knew what issue this product suffered from, so that I can be on the look out.Overall very good product.

Now that it's discontinued, is it worth the price used?
This review is done after a year and a half of ownership, and following the release of the Razer Ripsaw HD (2019)Reasons to Buy This:I paid $110 refurbished as well as $6 deals for 4 years’ protection. You can probably get it even cheaper now used.Supports up to 1080p 60FPS recording and passthrough--pretty much the standard so far for most streaming/recording.The low latency over USB 3.0 means you can play it on your computer monitor at the same or even faster latency than your TV. This is pretty standard for capture devices these days so it’s good to have. Normally, your computer must be powered for passthrough to work for the TV it’s connected to.Very small, simply designed box. 3 colors of lighting on the front tell you the current status of the device.Big Bonus:PS3 support. Many capture cards can’t support the PS3 due to HDCP protection. The Razer Ripsaw comes with a separate port and cable for connection through component, thus bypassing the issue many capture cards have faced. Unfortunately, the newer Razer Ripsaw HD does not have this option. This also means any DVD/CD content played through the PS3 can be recorded through this capture card, though this is not advised, it is just a feature due to the circumstance.Don’t Buy This?:The device is now being discontinued and doesn’t look like it will be supported in Synapse 3. This means to update your device, you have to download the older Synapse 2 for drivers. Not a big problem for me as it’s a small program and I don’t have any other Razer products to integrate, but something to keep in mind. This relates to my previous point. Due to the lack of updates, the Spectre meltdown that has plagued older PC hardware users causes the capture to slow my computer to a near halt. The only way to remedy this is to disable Windows’ Spectre update, thus making your computer vulnerable to the Spectre attack. There is no official recording software for the program. You can download many free options such as OBS, which has worked well for me, but while other capture devices continually update their software, Razer’s has run its course for this product. The new Razer Ripsaw HD is out and supports 4K 60 passthrough for your PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, or PC @ 4K settings (No HDR). So if you want to play in the best quality and record at the same time, this is a good option for you.For me, this covers everything I need to record in 1080p 60FPS. One day when 4K is more standardized, and more devices are made, then I plan to upgrade from this device. But right now I will stick with the remaining 3 years of device protection I still have. Conclusion:Ultimately, the Razer Ripsaw ticks all the boxes and works as well as the Avermedia and Elgato counterparts, but unfortunately, due to the lack of support for this device, it may not be worth the hassle unless you can get it cheap. Any issues usually revolve around drivers and synapse 2, the USB port you use, and Spectre. Don’t buy this, buy the newer, supported Razer Ripsaw HD for the $160.

Does not work with Synapse 3. 0 so you ...
Does not work with Synapse 3.0 so you have to download Synapse 2.0 and use both at the same time. Been out of stock for months and can't be found anywhere so Razer seems to be slowly abandoning this. Would not work at all after hours of trying to get past software issues that ended in a Windows code 10 - device cannot start that I can't get past. For all your streaming needs I would leave it to Elgato - I issued return request and will be going with Elgato for my full streaming setup due to the software and ease of use....outside of the Razer Kiyo webcam I have my heart set on. This is the only Razer product I have ever regretted purchasing, granted they were going into unfamiliar territory with this.

not a good buy
when I got the product even though used worked like it was surposed to. Worked for like a week then the pc was showing camera not connected. The video to HDMI in to HDMI out was working put that was it some how the device stopped processing the images and sound from the HDMI to the pc. Also the mic in don't work the aux in don't work anymore and the av converter in stopped working as well it wont convert it to HDMI no more. Don't buy a waste of money.
