My Outdoor Patio is ALIVE with Amazing Projection TV!!
I have been wanting way to watch movies or TV on my back yard patio for about 2 years now. Not just watching movies at night, but things like Wimbledon during the day or other sporting events. Always pictured a regular TV, a long cabling set up + power cord issues. Then the plan invariably hit the skids when we tried to figure out how to mount it and really where to mount it so it would be protected from the weather. It wasn't until I saw a portable outdoor screen ad that I thought,...hmmmm....maybe a projector is the way to go. Small, lightweight, could move it and the screen anywhere depending on the situation and the time of day. The reviews on this particular projector, the high lumens and the price point were so good I had to give it a try. SO glad I did. This little gem was out of the box, up and running in about 5 minutes. I tested it inside, during normal daylight against our family room wall by temporarily snagging the HDMI cable off our TV. Boom! It detected the connected source automatically and we had a crisp huge picture beaming on the wall - just like that! I tested it again inside at night and was even more amazed by the clarity. Time to take this bad boy outside.I didn't order a screen just yet because I wanted to make sure this projector plan was a definite "go". So I literally clipped a white sheet tightly across our garden arbor at dusk. I also needed an input source and after much research, I decided to try AppleTV since the guys at the Apple store said I could try it for 14 days and bring it back if I didn't like it. After a quick set up to connect to our wi-fi, I had Netflix playing on a SHEET and it was incredibly clear picture quality. I was projecting roughly a 4'x7' image and was over the moon with excitement!!! Next test - daytime patio.I read a lot about how daytime viewing outdoors is impossible, even with higher lumen projectors. The fact is, the higher lumens is important, but what's even more important is where you place your screen. A screen in direct sunlight or even bright overcast light is doomed to fail. But a screen shaded from direct light has excellent possibilities to produce a nice image. No, it's not as awesome as night viewing, but it's totally fine during the day if your screen is placed somewhere in the shade (under a big tree or some other kind of overhang). I had my projector in the sun, but my temporary sheet-screen taped against the side of the house where we have a 3' overhang so the screen area was completely shaded. It was a surprisingly nice image and this whole game plan was now proven and tested. I also now see the value of a "portable" screen so you can move it around based on conditions and I currently have one on order from Camp Chef. One last note on sound quality and the infamous "fan noise". I had a group over last night for a TV series finale viewing party on the patio. The audio on the projector as is, is just OK. It's easily improved by AUX cable connection to any other portable speaker you have at home. For example, via the standard 3mm audio jack, I was connected to a Bose Soundlink Mini and had really great audio. And as far as the fan goes, I do not find the fan noise annoying AT ALL. I was sitting right next to the projector last night and I barely heard the fan or even noticed when it came on. Perhaps outdoors the fan would be less noticeable than inside and would even run less because it's cooler outside. Either way....it was a non-issue for me. I am in LOVE with this unit, it's simple set up and amazing picture quality!!!My set up in a nutshell: Extension cord from an outdoor outlet on the house. Connected that to a power strip. The power strip had both the projector and AppleTV plugged in. Apple TV was HDMI connected to the side of the projector. AppleTV connected to my internet via Wi-Fi (gives me access to streaming via Netflix, ABC.com, WatchESPN, HBOGo, etc.). My portable Bose Soundlink speaker was connected via 3mm AUX cable to the side of the projector. And that was it. This was a very small footprint of stuff all resting on an outdoor end table. You could easily connect a small DVD player and watch movies that way too.

Great Cinema experience!
Okay so this is gonna be my first Amazon review, but since I just updated my home movie theater system (huge upgrade!) I am going to review everything I got that is included in it, so I’ll start with this AMAZING projector. The projector came in nicely packaged (accidently threw away the lens).Set-upMe being completely new to projectors I was a little nervous on how hard it was going to be to set it up. But little behold it was the easiest thing I’ve ever done! You pretty much just plug it in, slide that HDMI in and you’re golden!Fan noiseNow before I bought this projector I did a TON of research as I wanted to make sure I got the perfect one, and from all the reviews, the fan noise was quite. Now that I have the projector sitting 3-4ft behind me and can give my own opinion on it. Anddd I have to say I’m not as impressed as other reviewers seemed to be, but that just could be that I’m extremely picky and new to projectors lol. The fan noise isn’t extremely loud, but during quite scenes I can definitely hear it unfortunately (my girlfriend cant), but if you try and tune it out it is manageable. But it is definitely not a reason to not get this projector! Just my opinion and it could just be the way mine is, but if put in eco mode its gets a little better.PictureI’m coming from a 55” Samsung LCD TV and when I first saw the picture on my new 120” electric projector screen, I was blow away! The picture is very crisp and clean and you will not be disappointed. One thing I have noticed though but have not messed with the settings, is that when I project my ps4 it seems to get blurry in the corners for some odd reason, honestly I’m not a fan of gaming on the projector, I like to keep it just for movies, so it’s not a big deal to me and I’m sure you can probably make it better if you messed with the settings. One more thing to note is that the picture still looks great even when there is a considerable amount of light in the room, since it has 3000 Lumens which is a huge plus!SettingsThey are a TON of settings on this thing and it’s very nice. When I first set it up, the picture was off on both sides of the screen for about 1 week just by a few inches which didn’t bug me at first. But with time I wanted to make it fit perfectly on the screen, so I started messing with the settings and was able to make it fit perfectly on the 120” screen without moving the projector which was sweet! There is so many options that you can change. It has two power modes, Active and Eco and Like 5 different view modes, Cinema, Vibrant, Gaming and more!SoundNow the projector does come with its own sound system but couldn’t tell you much more than it works, as I use my Sony 5.1 surround sound and just mute the projector sound.BuildThe build is nice to me and doesn’t deserve to be hated on, I think that it’s good enough and there is no reason to complain like other reviewers have because all it does is sit in one spot.3DThe 3D on this thing is amazing! Very east to setup. The first movie I watched in 3D was Avatar and dam it was a crazy ride! I think you get my point that it works great!TipDon’t try and clean the lens like I did, biggest mistake ever, once you touch the lens its game over, you will see smudges no matter what until you get a professional lens cleaner which made it way better!Well there is my review I guess lol But in the end I stand behind this projector 110% and this is the one to get it if you’re in the market for a new one! I struggled on which projector to get between the BenQ 1070w and this one but in the end what sold me was the amount of Lumens and I don’t regret it at all!ENJOY!
