The Book of Common Prayer: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)

This prayer book is beautifully written and in conformity with Christian truth as found in Scripture and Tradition. Quotations are from the KJV Bible. The Psalms are from the Coverdale Bible. Morning and Evening prayer start with penitential verses which may be off putting to those unused to them but needful reminders to always strive to be better. Prayers accurately address our human condition. Book contains the Athanasian Creed and 39 Articles of Religion. Completely trustworthy.

At times it is a wonderful reference book; at other times it remains a genuinely spiritual experience. Very meaningful for those of us who were brought up with the traditional prayer book - you just can't beat the language used, and the reverence it evokes. The book also reminded me of the hours I spent in church looking through the list of people one could not marry and trying to work out what that would mean in my family.

I bought this as a gift for my mother. She's enjoyed it! Came on time and in perfect condition.

This book is great, but it’s all in old English and is a flimsy paperback cover. For my purposes, I use this book in class, and the cover is already getting banged up. It’s great if you were looking for the historic copy and would be using this as a book to read from time to time - but not as a Christian study tool.

A great read for Protestants looking to reconnect with the merits of liturgical worship. Well worth owning

A perfect prayers book to have at home. In addition to all the Episcopal services the book has prayers for all occasions. Great reference for Epscopal liturgy and even answers to questions in the back.

I miss the traditional and familiar language in the Book of Common Prayer. In the U.S., the 1979 book omits the gospels and epistles for the sundays. I have found the Book of Common Prayer to keep me on track when my faith is week. This familiar edition is precious to me.

Beautifully constructed edition of the Book of Common Prayer. Publications such as this one says much about the great value of the printed word over digital 'books'.

Written or translated mainly by Archbishop Dr Thomas Cranmer, Cambridge scholar, burnt alive at the stake by Queen Blood Mary. This is who we are, or should be.

Great book

I'm a fan of PCD editions and this is no exception; arrived on time, not a blemish on it (I'm very particular about my books), and great value for money. I'd recommend Penguin Classics Deluxe editions to anyone. Whilst they're obviously for reading, they look good on shelves, too.

Its the Common Prayer Book, and makes life easier when in church. Get the odd look from the elder generation! I line the ability to bookmark though would like to have been able to put in more than one.
