Bung Wrench Lid Lifter Tool

What good is food storage in a 5-gallon bucket that you can't open, or that takes so much effort to open that you shy away from using it, not to mention the damage to hands, fingers, and nails in trying to wrest the lid off? This is the answer and it was like a miracle when I tried it the first time! Within a couple of minutes I figured out how to use the bung wrench, and yes, it works for the bung closures of 55-gallon drums, too, but that's not why I bought it. It neatly hangs on a hook in my storage room, with its built in hanging hole, for quick access to the food buckets when needed. I'm so glad I bought it and just wish I'd found one about 20 years ago! Of course it is heavy-duty, yet light weight. Awesome tool.

This tool works to make opening those buckets so much easier. Hint, open the 4 corners and DON'T reach too deep under the lid or you can catch the lip of bucket instead of just the lid. It will break the seal of the lid but won't lift it off. Go to the 4 corners, break the seal, back the tool away just a little from the bucket then remove the lid. This is a great tool. Working Great

Have used these for many years, does what it is supposed to reliably well. Nothing fancy, but who needs a fancy bucket lid, and barrel bang opener?! Reliable simplicity, low cost.

Strong, sturdy, but really seems better suited for round buckets. I am not finding any info anywhere about how to get into the square buckets. So it isnt like we have a choice, exactly. Basically this tool is what I see across the board. I went with an Augason brand tool because I have pretty much nothing but their brand of emergency food. I recently acquired some buckets, so I decided to buy the tool (btw, I now see that there are much cheaper tools out there, some in multi packs). The lids from the square buckets CAN be pried off using this, but I highly recommend the assistance of a flat head screw driver. When it comes down to it, a screw driver will do. Yet the addition of this bung wrench provides ergonomic support.. so yeh, overall I prefer having it versus not. That being said, the lid will likely be damaged. Maybe if you have finesse it can be reused. I didnt want to go to far into breaking into one of my kits. But I did work this tool around the lid a little to see how it would perform. I could see that it will work, and then is when I determined that the addition of the screw driver will provide added ease of taking the lid off (and visa versa, this bung will help if you had only planned on a screw driver). Maybe I am just going at it wrong. At least I know I can and will get into my buckets when the time comes. Would like to see them produce a video showing them getting into a square bucket with this thing. Or come out with a better tool for it.

I had my bucket of food for two weeks and I could not open it. I looked for a tool to open it I found it bought 2 of them the buckets are really sealed this tool designed to open the buckets and yet fits the hand to get the leverage to open them. A very useful and necessary item a must buy.

WORKS GREAT. IT IS A LOT BETTER THAN ANY MAKE SHIFT TOOL. DOES NOT DAMAGE LID SO IT CAN BE REUSED. WELL DESIGNED.
