Expensive, but expansive
First, they work. And they work really well. I mean almost life-changing, best purchase well. We have the Amazon Alexa home situation and the lights perform and integrate wonderfully. We still have wemo switches, but they're basically gathering dust now. I had so many problems with the wemo switches getting them to sync and what not. I would have to resync all three at least 3x a year. The Phillips Hue... plugged it in, turned it on, put the lights in their sockets and everything just worked.I do have a price point limit though. Before you run to buy these, remember, you can buy regular light bulbs for less than $5. Our electric company mails us two to three lightbulbs a year. As I write this review, a single Hue bulb is $50. It changes color, dims/brightens, turns on when my phone connects to the home wifi and more. So these are more than just an average lightbulb. I got them on Prime day for $139. At that price these are amazing and perfect. At $199, I can get off my lazy ass and turn off a light switch myself. I also wouldn't spend $50 on the lightbulbs by themselves. I've seen them come down in price to between $30 and $40. Next time they do, I'll pick up a few more.

A fantastic home-automation product
I bought these on a whim, not really knowing what to expect or how I'd actually put the system to use in my house, but it was a good deal on Prime day, so I pulled the trigger. (Knowing good and well my wife was going to hate it).Setup is as easy as screwing in a light bulb & pushing a button. I haven't had any issues pairing bulbs to my hub or things not showing up in the mobile app (on android or iOS).The colored-light aspect of these is a little gimmicky, but I suspect if you know what you're doing with colored lights, you could do special things with these. The real magic in these for me is the ability to control the brightness and warmth - they're great for having some light in my living room at night while watching TV & for having some light in the morning while waking up without being blinded. I'm not sure if the white+ambience-only lights can match the range of warm light the Color Ambience bulbs provide, but I'll be picking up a few of those next to give them a try. This is a fantastic product an great starter kit, well worth the cost at full price if you can afford it.

Well worth it!
Absolutely love the hue lights. Easy setup just a little cumbersome. Hue bridge has to be hard wired to the router to work with WiFi, which sucks. You can setup (name) bulbs after you download the hue app and then associate bulbs to a room. Simple! Added the hue bridge to Alexa app using smart home link...make sure you enable hue skill. Had to physically go to basement where router is located along with new hue bridge, and push button on hue to allow Alexa to connect to it. Once connected lights under hue app naming shows up in Alexa app (smart home). Honestly imo, only use Alexa for voice commands and hue app for scenes and light colors. I had to google my way through setup. First google Phillips hue light setup. Once you have that part consistently working, then google how to connect Phillips Hue using Alexa. I found it easier to break out the process. When it’s all done and working...give the command, and watch Alexa turn on/off your lights...simply awesome.

Fun. And Lights the Way!
These lights have been fun and useful in the short time I've had them. I have two in my living room and one in my front porch fixture. I've gotten the most use out of the one on the porch. (I'm not sure they're recommended for outdoor use, but I decided to use it like I use any other bulb. My porch is covered and the fixture is enclosed). It's been nice using the red color for the holiday until I get my decorations up. (All my neighbors were "Johnny on The Spot" with their decorations, so I'm lagging a little behind). I also set up geo fencing for it so that it comes on when I'm approaching the house. This feature works most of the time, but occasionally the light doesn't come on until after I'm in the house already. I can always use the app to turn it on manually from the car at these times, but for now I'm still observing it's automatic behavior. I use the ones in the living room for fun, cool light colors to suit my mood.Four Stars only because there's no help function in the app or at the website, and it's not as intuitive as some other technology I've used recently. However, I've managed to set up the geo fencing and the time functions without detailed step by step instructions. The hub used up the last available port on my router and the router seems to be running hotter than normal to keep up with the full load, so maybe a new router in my near future to accommodate this new addition.
