Weather Flying, Fifth Edition

I read this Book twice and still grab it for review. Once a Pilot read all the Theory Books, this one will be a Guidance in practical Weather Flying referencing Sources as needed. It has a timeless Character, since the Information how to approach Weather will not change so fast. But the Book will review actual Technology and how it may be utilized and were the Limitations are. Written by two Generations of extraordinary Pilots with love to fly and willingness to pass this Knowledge. In my personal Opinion it is written the best way possible. Even with decades of flying experience I found a lot of valuable Information, Knowledge and methodical thinking. When you are going to fly the Weather or want to avoid it, it is the Book.

If you're like me and prefer having an old school style grasp on things, not just following procedures and checklists, relying on computer controlled devices to give you warnings, but rather prefer to understand things from a more simple yet thorough perspective and you happen to be a pilot then boy this book is for you. This book will help you develop a "commons sense" type of understanding when it comes to weather and flying, it's like Bob takes you on a stroll and says hey, let me share with you the secretes of weather flying. It's an easy read and has a conversational style to it If you're in doubt, just get this book, make yourself a cup of coffee, get comfortable and begin to absorb the old wisdom of good ole pilots who really knew what they were doing.

I purchased this to read before my check ride test. Good review of weather resources. Other common sense observations too.

As good as the original by the Senior Buck, with updates that make it even better. One criticism, though: the editing could use some work. To wit: page 183, first full paragraph. "...a lot of work is being done for us, BREADING (should be "breeding") temptation to..." A spell-checker won't pick up this kind of error. On page 197: "... especially as an important COMPLIMENT ..." instead of the correct word, "complement." I had originally planned on highlighting all the errors, but it became too tedious. My advice: pull this book down, re-edit, and re-upload. It's too good, and too important a book to leave as-is. As for content -- don't change a thing!

Even if you do not fly a plane yourself this is very interesting. Take it on your next commercial flight and sit by the window! Whenever we get to do that again in normal times. Its a different world up there and this book achieves an understanding in a relatively non-technical way.

This book has probably single handedly saved more lives and made more pilots safer than any other I have read. You WILL end up flying in weather some day in your flying career of some sort. You need to have the skills to be able to deal with it intelligently. The information in this book is from an amazing polit who in the days before all the technology learned how to survive and thrive flying weather. His knowledge is priceless for all pilots, as our craft is learned in a lifetime, but mastered only on the backs of the giants who came before us. This is one of those giants.

While we've learned more about weather, from a science standpoint, not much has changed from the pilots viewpoint. We have better technology to help with the weather decisions, but it's still OUR decisions; go, no go; stay the course, divert; Fly through it, go around it. This book deals primarily with the practical aspect of weather flying and decision making. Great book!

This is one of the best, if not the best, aviation weather book I had read. All the chapters are very well explained using pilot's language but without loosing the technical explanations that are a must to understand aviation weather. Robert Buck's weather flying experiences are the core of this book, which makes it even more valuable reading material for pilots. Paulo Rivetti

This is a very useful resource book for pilots and filled with remarkably insightful information that enhances piloting knowledge. Great book; great seller - book arrived in perfect condition. I recommend this book and seller.

Livro bastante útil, entregue dentro dos prazos previstos

This is essential reading for any serious pilot. A very well written book enforcing the need to understand weather. I feel inspired to continue reading and researching weather and forecasting as gaining more knowledge can only aid better piloting and decision making. I will refer to this book for the rest of my aviation career and remain clear of thunderstorms too!
