but does great on the smooth ceiling
I ordered this for my 10 yr.old as a birthday present. It really does work! We've had it for a couple weeks now, and all pieces are still in-tact. I'd say ages 5 and up could use it. You do have to be tall enough to get it on high surfaces, or have a ladder. It doesn't work on popcorn ceilings, but does great on the smooth ceiling, wall and floor. Great toy for the price!!

Save your money!
I can't believe the price of this toy for what you get.1. It is very poorly made. I understand it has to be light in order to climb walls, but the construction is little better than paper.2. The performance is terrible. It barely goes on our HARDWOOD floors and even less on our carpet. We have newly painted, smooth walls that it absolutely does not climb.3. The range of the laser is terrible. It does not even follow the laser within the range prescribed. The price is rediculous and the advertisement is deceiving. Our son (6 yrs) was absolutely disappointed on Christmas morning.

Very Cool Toy
This toy was a Christmas present from Santa Claus. I'm very happy with it. I'll be honest I didn't have high expectations of it working on walls and ceilings after reading reviews but it was on my 4 year old's wish list.It turned out to be a hit. He's still playing with it. It works really well. I had to adjust the skirts on the underside of the car slightly to get optimal suction. I bent them ever so slightly outward so that the vacuum sucked them back in and created a good seal with the surface.Using an infrared light to control direction is perfect for a 4-year old. It's much easier than the standard remote control. He also gets hours of fun encouraging his 2-year old brother to 'follow the red dot'I like this toy a lot and so does my son. I would recommend it.

hmmm - not sure it actually sticks to walls...
bit hit and miss with the walls - not sure if its our paint or the quality of the machine. my gut is telling me the machine is cheap and nasty - i would never buy this under normal circumstances but my son was desperate for one

Big dissapointment.
Not sure where the magic is, but not in the one we got. It works "ok" on the floor as long as you don't move the light too quickly or too far away (it states in the manual about 10" from the car and once my 7 year old figured that out he was able to get it to run fairly well - if jerky - on the floor which made him happy. BUT, we tried a dozen surfaces to get it to run on the wall and found only one closet door where it worked sort of. In all other cases it simply held in place but as soon as it started to move it just slipped back down to the floor. On the wood closet door it did manage to move up and around but only a bit before again slipping down. I tried adjusting the "flaps" but it did not help and there was no information about how to "tune it" (if possible) in the manual. Upside down simply forget it. Tried a couple surfaces - wood and painted sheet rock - and in both cases it held but as soon as it started to move just fell to the ground. Though light (read - cheap feeling) which makes it less likely to break, falling from a ceiling seemed to me so likely to break that I told my son not even to use it that way (not to mention he'd have to stand on a tall ladder to place it since it can't transition from a wall to the ceiling). All in all a big dissapointment. Cool idea and maybe it works but it should come with clear instructions on exactly which surface types (even tried mirrors thinking it required ultra smooth and non-porous but again it just slips down). as well as how to adjust it for better results.

Great toy!
This is such a cool toy! I bought one for my nephew and told some coworkers about it. My boss bought one for his son, so I bought one for him so that they can both play on Christmas morning. A coworker saw and bought one each for her husband and son. Then another coworker saw and bought one for each of her two boys! It's really easy to use and very entertaining! Just remember to buy batteries if you're giving as a gift. It takes 6 AA.

These were a TON of fun! I didn't realize they were a foam material when I ordered them. The kids played with them a lot for a few weeks then lost interest. They do that with a lot of toys though and they were 10 so maybe a little old for this toy. I think this would be perfect for 6-9 age range. It was really cool and entertaining!
