2 for 2 so far, glad I bought the counter.
Expensive rat trap for sure, but not as expensive as fixing engine compartment wiring.First few days, using the provided bait, I kept checking the strike counter and to my surprise the counter remained at zero. Then one morning my counter changed to one and a large rat was dead. Without the counter I would just assume the trap was a bad purchase. Now the strike counter has moved to 2 and I can say it is working great!!

The Rats are Laughing!
I have had this in my Vancouver back yard continuously for 4 years. I tried the attractant that came with this trap, as well as alternatives (peanut butter, tallow, raw meat etc.). No rat has ever set off the compressed gas cylinder. Glue traps are much more effective in catching the Norwegian rats that live in our neighborhood.

Stopped working after 1-2 months (both of them)
I liked this concept so much I bought 2 of them. They both stopped working after about 20 mice. I think it is because the gas canisters started leaking and emptying really fast. I think structural issues. Very unhappy considering the cost.

Good with limits
As far as lethal killing goes, it works! flawlessly. For mice, chipmunks and red squirrels. I wanted it only for mice, hence the custom mesh attachment up front. To work effectively the "rodent head" needs to be inserted into the chute completely. If only the nose of a larger rodent triggers the device you get a severely [but not dead] wounded squirrel, for example - a real situation I had. Separately, the force is so great that the entire unit flips and flops each time it is triggered requiring light reassembly of the part s- hence the zip ties and finally the attachment to a small piece of field site. Works like magic then. Except...when a [presumably larger] target is intent on getting at the bait from up top. Now I have a useless killing machine. Hopefully the manufacturers will replace it. Next modification would include chicken wire over the top as well. For the record, 14 "events" resulted in 14 kills in one month while set near my BBQ. They kept partying inside the enclose. I had eliminated that problem - till now. :-(
