Great series, basic Dvd collection
The series and leads are great. The Dvds are basic, no season/episode labels, no episode guide, just a list of the episodes on the particular disc you have installed, four to six episodes per disc. There are all the annoying features of Dvd technology in this collection, which I never liked but there's no other way to get this. The annoying rights page, followed by the producer logo with its loud if brief theme. The clunky move to the episode you pick. Then there's a preview of the episode before you get to the opening credits, with the show's theme now played for the third time. DVDs were always like this, so awful compared to DVR recordings. The fast forward, reverse and scene skip don't work very well, it could be my player. The video and sound are fine though, with no commercials of course. But, I find most the episodes boring. There's alot of character play, but it doesn't interest me, like the habits of the chief officer in the station or Lacey's husband and their relationship. It could be the different time, but I was part of the audience they sought when it was new, late 20's to early 30's single professional urban woman. I didn't watch it then though. The leads just chat alot and there isn't much action or suspense, it almost seems shocking when something happens. But, I maintain that TV must be dramatic and drama isn't a copy of real life blahs, it has heightened feelings and actions. I watched Simon and Simon back then and it was my favorite show and I was right. I don't like any of the Cagney & Lacey supporting cast, all guys, but I think they're good, I just don't like them or care to see or hear them. But Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless are good, together and apart in the show, the top female team in TV history. Their costars can't approach them in terms of being interesting or having talent or charisma.Cagney never dressed like she lived in NYC, she had more of a Florida or S. Cal. wardrobe.

Worth it
We love nostalgic tv . When we found out that the 40th anniversary complete series came with the unaired pilot and all made for tv movies. We were sold. The price was perfect. When it did show up. The video and sound quality are great. Better than expected for a show from 1981 . I believe it was remastered for the 40th but not the 30th anniversary boxset.Packaging was great. For some reason. The disks were off season 2 was season 3 and so on all the way through. Once we figured this out we started watching.Vei is a great company, I will buy more nostalgic show from them . Very happy

Great show! It was way ahead of its time.
The DVD box came in great condition and all of the discs inside work very well and there’s no damage or scratches. The picture on all of the discs looks great!I’m probably one of the youngest fans at 36. I first started watching it on Hulu about 9 years ago as it was two of my aunts favorite show when it originally aired in the 80’s. Fast forward 9 years later and a pandemic, I rediscovered the show on Amazon prime and binge watched all of the seasons. As a early Christmas present to myself I decided to buy the set and am so glad I did. This show really speaks to working women and shows how women can do the same work as men. The two leading ladies, Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly, really shine and have great chemistry. This show didn’t shy away from talking about tough topics and was way ahead of its time. If you’re a fan of cop shows or anything 80’s, I highly recommend this set!

Super value and fantastic box set.
I buy a lot of old sitcoms and this is a great value for a good old tv show. It also comes in a great box set where the discs are in the center in little black envelopes that stack on top of each other. Discs are safer this way. Added tip- put a sticky note on the disc you watched so you remember where you left off.

everything Cagney & Lacey
The product delivered to me contained 29 discs and has all the CAGNEY & LACEY shows plus somebonus material. The 4 rating rather than 5 for the following reasons:Some of the discs have technical problems such as skips or freeze - all could be bypassed. The discs are in flimsy envelopes in a clump. No booklet or episode guide (this is available online if wanted).None of the videos have SDH sub-titles.A note about labeling: The 2 hour made for TV movie, the first C&L production is labeled as a PILOT., (actors TYNE DALY and LORETTA SWITT). A 6 episode TV series (Tyne Daly & Meg Foster) followed. This FIRST series is labeled as "lost episodes". There followed Season 2-7 (sometimes refereed to asseries 2-6) with Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless). When the TV series ended, 4 made for TV MIVIES were produced, again with Daly & Gless. The executive producer BARNEY ROSENZWEIG wrote a book about the creation, marketing andprogress of the Cagney & Lacey dramas CAGNEY & LACEY...and Me. For a limited edition DVD set herecorded this on 2 audio discs (CDs) not available except in that set. This 40th Anniversary box contains an MP3 AUDIO DVD containing Rosenzweig reading the book. Here is a list of the discs contained in this set:THE LOST EPISODES 2-DVDDISC 1PILOT (1981 Filmways, CBS TV movie with Loretta Switt)Season 1 (1982, Filmways) with Meg Foster 6 episodes1 "Bang, Bang, You're Dead" ("You Call This Plain Clothes?")2 "Pop Used to Work Chinatown"DISC 23 "Beyond the Golden Door"4 "Street Scene"5 "Suffer the Children"6 "Better Than Equal"SSEASON 2-7 and post-series TV films with Sharon Gless (23 DVD)(1) THE TRUE BEGINNING 5-DVDSeason 2 (1982–83) 22 episodesDISC 11 "Witness to An Incident"2 "One of Our Own"3 "Beauty Burglars"4 "High Steel"DISC 25 "Hotline"6 "Internal Affairs"7 "Mr. Lonelyhearts"8 "Conduct Unbecoming"DISC 39 "I'll Be Home for Christmas"10 "Recreational Use"11 "Hopes and Dreams"12 "The Grandest Jewel Thief of them All"DISC 413 "Affirmative Action"14 "Open and Shut Case"15 "Jane Doe #37"16 "Date Rape"17 "Burn Out"DISC 518 "Chop Shop"19 "A Cry for Help"20 "Let Them Eat Pretzels"21 "the Gangs all Here"22 "The Informant"(2) BACK BY DEMAND 2-DVDSeason 3 (1984) 7 episodesDISC 11 "Matinée"2 "A Killer's Dozen"3 "Victimless Crime"4 "The Bounty Hunter"DISC 25 "Baby Broker"6 "Partners"7 "Choices"(3) SUCCESS AT LAST 4-DVDSeason 4 (1984–85) 22 episodesDISC 11 "Child Witness"2 "Heat"3 "Insubordination"4 "Old Debts"5 "Fathers and Daughters"6 "Taxicab Murders"DISC 27 "Unusual Occurrence"8 "Thank God It's Monday"9 "Hooked"10 "Lady Luck"11 "Out of Control"12 "American Dream"DISC 313 "Happily Ever After"14 "Rules of the Game"15 "Stress"16 "Who Says It's Fair?: Part 1"17 "Who Says It's Fair?: Part 2"DISC 418 "Lost and Found"19 "Two Grand"20 "Con Games"21 "Violation"22 "Organized Crime"(4) EVEN MORE SUCCESS 4-DVDSeason 5 (1985–86)DISC 11 "On the Street"2 "Ordinary Hero"3 "The Psychic"4 "Lottery"5 "Entrapment"6 "The Clinic"DISC 27 "Mothers & Sons"8 "Filial Duty"9 "Old Ghosts"10 "Power"11 "Play It Again, Santa"12 "Rebukes" ??The RapistDISC 313 "Act of Conscience"14 "DWI"15 "The Gimp"16 "Family Connections"17 "Post Partum"18 "The Man Who Shot Trotsky"DISC 419 "Exit Stage Centre"20 "Capitalism"21 "Extradition"22 "A Safe Place"23 "Model Citizen"24 "Parting Shots"(5) QUALITY CONTROL 4-DVDSeason 6 (1986–87)DISC 11 "Schedule One"2 "Culture Clash"3 "Sorry, Right Number"4 "Disenfranchised"5 "Role Call"6 "The Zealot"DISC 27 "The Marathon"8 "Rites of Passage"9 "Revenge"10 "To Thine Own Self Be True" "The Rapist: Part 2"11 "Cost of Living"12 "Waste Deep"DISC 313 "Favors"14 "Ahead of the Game"15 "Easy Does It"16 "To Sir, With Love"17 "Divine Couriers"DISC 418 "Right to Remain Silent"19 "Special Treatment"20 "Happiness is a Warm Gun"21 "Turn, Turn, Turn: Part 1"22 "Turn, Turn, Turn: Part 2"(6) WINDING DOWN 4-DVDSeason 7 (1987–88)DISC 11 "No Vacancy"2 "The City is Burning"3 "Loves Me Not"4 "Different Drummer"5 "You've Come a Long Way, Baby"6 "Video Verite"DISC 27 "Greed"8 "Secrets"9 "Don't I Know You?"10 "Old Flames"11 "Trading Places"12 "Shadow of a Doubt"DISC 313 "Hello Goodbye"14 "School Daze"15 "Land of the Free"16 "A Class Act"17 "Button, Button"DISC 418 "Amends"19 "Friendly Smoke"20 "Yup"21 "A Fair Shake: Part 122 "A Fair Shake: Part 2"TV MOVIES 2-DVDDISC 1Cagney & Lacey: THE RETURN November 6, 1994interview Barney RosenzweigCagney & Lacey: TOGETHER AGAIN May 2, 1995interview Sharon GlessDISC 2Cagney & Lacey: THE VIEW THROUGH THE GLASS CEILING October 25, 1995interview Tyne DalyCagney & Lacey: TRUE CONVICTIONS January 29, 1996interview Barbara CordayBONUS DVDBreakin the Laws of TV - Part I & II30th Anniversary BFI British Film Institute (Rosenzweig, Daly, Pless, Jenni Murray)November 29, 2011CAGNEY & LACEY....and ME - Barney Rosenzweig mp3 AUDIO DVDchapters 1-15 21-47 16-20
