Very thorough explanations. Just wish there was an updated version to deal with the geo location problem. It does the job for architectural drawing, is easy to follow and has pictures to reference to make it easier.

I added my own table of contents with the information that I've been struggling without. Lots of good information that I've needed for a long time.

This book made learning Sketch up incredibly easy. Well worth it.

The title of this book should really be, 3D SketchUp for Dummies, as it mainly covers the creation of 3D objects. I was a little disappointed in that my expectations was to learn more of the traditional 2D drafting aspects of using the software. There is some information, just not enough to help me.I'm a traditional drafter, someone that creates CAD drawings and was hoping to maybe switch over to using SketchUp in place of AutoCAD, but this isn't the book for someone looking to do that. That's not to say this is a bad book, just not for what I want to learn.The book does a good job of getting you started with SketchUp and making 3D objects, starting with a simple building. If you've never done much with 3D this book will walk you through the basics of the different kinds of operations for making something. Being someone with old school AutoCAD experience, I was happy to see that SketchUp has solid modeling tools for doing Boolean operations.There is a chapter on sharing what you create - from printing it out (2D on paper, or 3D with a 3D printer) to uploading a model to the online 3D Warehouse.I would recommend this book, while it's not what I needed for doing 2D drafting - I still am learning a lot about using SketchUp to do 3D modeling.

As a new user on SketchUp, I'm using the free on-line version. While this book does give a good basic start to using it, I find it falling short of hitting the mark for the online version. I've found several times I've looked for instructions to do a specific task, but the menus are not the same as in the book. The online menus on SketchUp are so poorly laid out that a book is needed to find the menu option to do a task. This book is little to no help for that (for online version). There are pictures of menus that do not exist on my version of the software. Best I've been able to do is try hovering over ever icon until I find one that looks like it might work for the task I'm attempting. If that fails, I've had to Google the question and hope to find it that way.

Easy to follow book but software is difficult to master for practical applications.

Easy to follow and an excellent tool for achieving your goals with Sketchup.

I finally found a book that taught me Sketchup! This is a great book. I bought others that wasn't worth the paper they were printed on.
