I’ve tried Barge and all the other options and this is by far the best contact adhesive ever. The thinner is essential to making the system work the best.

With limitations...
I purchased this thinner, rather expensive IMO, to thin or restore to a more usable condition, the bottom 1/5 of my bottle of my often-used "S-18 All-Purpose Adhesive, 32 oz. can ". I hate to throw away the bottom of the can, as the adhesive is also expensive. Well... this thinner does not seem to dissolve the somewhat thickened adhesive in the bottom of my can. I am very disappointed with this.
