Review: Above Average Joe Review - Beautiful knife and surprisingly comfortable to grip. The copper frame adds a slight level of sophistication to this otherwise classic knife for the average Joe. Whether to collect or to use, give it a go. Great knife.

Completely disappointing
I ordered this to try and match my copper olight pen that was given to me. The first one I ordered I got the sleeve it's supposed to come in and the paper but no knife. Asked for a replacement got it but it's covered in a finish so the copper dosent patina. The steel with a bar keepers friend polish after getting wet one time still retains my finger prints on it. It will cut alright hasn't chipped or rolled. I do like how thin it is. It is light. I will scrub off the protective finishing now that I've had it for a little while. Hopefully makes it worth paying for 2 only getting one. If it patinas as well as my copper pen maybe.

The continuation of a legendaty line of knives.
I have been a fan of the Mercator knives for 40 years. This is certainly an appearance upgrade to the Black Cat, but it is now my every day carry. Just as well made and tough as the original, but classier looking.

Lightweight and Thin
A good EDC knife. Had to add a small clip to carry it vertically in my blue jean pocket, but once there, it virtually disappeared. Only 4 stars because it's definitely takes two hands to open; a trade-off I readily accepted.

Cool patina projects to be had.
This design is over 150 years old and still a charmer to own and use. I love the original Mercator K55K more for feel and noises. The original "black cat" version just looks cool and has a great lock-up noise. This copper one, due to the metal has a quiet lockup and different overall sensation/aesthetics. Still really cool, I sanded mine and stuck it in a tub with sea salt and ammonia for cool blue, green patterns. Then flashed it with clear coat spray paint. Looks unique and was fun. Certainly easy as heck to get razor sharp, carbon steel is my favorite for this. Great slicer and conversation piece. Be sure to read the k55k history on wikipedia.

German Quality?
Tool marks on all internals. Bought 3 for Father’s Day. Solid lock up. I was expecting German quality, not so much.

Inaccurate description
Inaccurate description . Giving one star because I was sent one with a stainless blade instead of carbon. Otherwise a lovely knife.
