Well Designed, Unbelievably Effective Cooler!
WOW!! This thing is amazing compared to my Corsair H100i V2 water cooler. I used to idle around 32-33C and at load would get around 45-50C. Recently, though my H100i was allowing idle temps at 44 and the load to spike to 68C on my AMD FX 8370 (8 core). Keep in mind this whole time I never overclocked, because I never feel it's worth the risk and don't feel the need to.So, I ordered this Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT. I put it in, which took about 30 min, due to the fact that it wasn't as straight forward as previous Noctua solutions I've used. I put the Macho in using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste, which I've found to be better than Artic Silver 5 and Tuniq TX-4. Following the instructions for my AMD was easy enough, but I had to concentrate more on each step than I would with a Noctua, because of the way this thing is installed. I didn't find it very difficult to install. In fact, I had a much harder time getting the H100i out of the case. So, how did it do? I ran Prime95 for 10-12 min. The idle temps were 22-24C (72-76F) with load temps maxed at 44C (111F). This means it's idling at cooler than the office I put this thing in! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, so I booted into the BIOS and checked and saw the same idle temps. I decided to overclock by 5% (yes, I'm cautious). I won't overclock more than that, but the temps are literally running at 24C with DOTA, Chrome, and a good number of other apps running. Playing Battlefield 1 pushed it to 44-45C at max settings. I may update this later, as time goes on, but this initial run is incredible! Btw, I have this in a Be Quiet! Silent Base 800. I was going to purchase a Thermalright fan duct to funnel air to the back outtake fan, but this thing sits almost flush against it anyway. So how does it look? Well, it's big. It's advertised at 159mm tall, but I believe with all the gear it sits on, it's more likely 162mm. My case still has room for it, so you'll need a decent-sized case for it. It looks OK, if not a big overwhelmingly big. What I love, however, is that while there are no lights on this thing, my case lights make the white fan glow and it looks very cool. All RAM slots are completely unblocked, so I can pretty much put whatever I want in there. I also noticed that with my motherboard, all card slots are available, as well. I love this thing! I still have some cable management to do now, since I have so much more room at top (now that I don't have a radiator in there and other places. With the LED stips I have in my case, i can change the lighting speed, color, brightness, and other things, but what I found was it really bounced off the white fan so well I don't really need to look for a lighting solution for it. Also, at lower brightness, the fan blades start to look more spread out and give a neat affect (see photos and you'll see one of those). As far as quality, the design put into this thing is astounding. I heard it was supposed to be fanless originally, and considering the temps I'm getting, I believe that's true. With the fan, though I don't see how this thing isn't beating out even Noctua's offerings at a cheaper price. The fins are very thin and you could end up bending them, if you're not careful. The kit came with everything, including thermal paste (which I didn't use), gloves, and a screw driver (which you'll need). Only time will tell, but if this holds up as it is now, I would buy Thermalright's solutions and from this seller again.EDIT: I put a fan at the top of the case blowing in and down onto the cooler, now that the radiator was out of the way. I did further cable management and moved the graphics card up. I also removed two fans I had at the bottom of the case. I also realized my tests were a little off, since I hadn't run them while the system was on for at least 15 min. So, I ran the system for about 15 min and then ran my tests. I now idle around 25-27C and hit a ceiling at full load for 12 min at 41C. That's more realistic and still VERY impressive.Update (6 Feb 2019): Still super happy with this cooler! It's amazingly quiet, and no matter how many times I've checked over the past year on temps, they stay very stable and low. I'm going to build a new system in the next few weeks and plan on putting another Thermalright cooler in.EDIT: 18 Jan 2020This thing is still going strong as the day I got it. Still quiet, still cool.

One of the best choices among air-cpu coolers.
I am especially writing this review for this particular product. All the other parts in my build (except chromax fans of noctua) are reviewed one way or another but this cpu cooler is not. I cannot understand it because it is credited by many people on the internet but you can't see many builds with it. I bought this after people recommended it against noctua d15s - I wanted a black&white, quiet and beefy air-cpu cooler that can fit into my case. However I was not sure if d15s would fit and I had to make extra purchases so its price would go higher up. I also didn't want a liquid cooler because I don't want noise (one of the reasons I wanted to change my stock cooler) and I dont like taking risks with liquid leak. So I made my choice in favor of Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT to replace my stock cooler. Don't get me wrong, stock cooler of AMD Ryzen 5 1600 is a great product for the price you pay but I wanted something "better".- Package & contentsEven though I knew I should've expected a big product in a big box I was still suprised. The heatsink is massive. It has black coating on the outer surface and has sharf fins. That is also why they included a pair of gloves! It has an asymmetrical design and you need the magnetized screwdriver which is also included with the product. Also you will find a black&white (outer black wings white) fan, a thermal compound and required materials for both intel and AMD chips to install your cooler.- InstallationBecause I purchased this product to replace my stock cooler, I didn't remove all my setup and instead installed it while my motherboard was still in the case. I was afraid it would be difficult and I cannot say how wrong I was. This was so easy to install and it was my first cooler installation (my friend installed the stock cooler for me). Screwed the pillars according to installation guide, removed the left-over thermal compound with alcohol, let it dry, put on the new thermal compound. Do not forget to remove the sticker which is placed on the surface that will face the cpu. Then screw the heatsink into its place. After that put on antivibration pads on the surface which the fan will place and install the fan. That's it! Installing the fan might be the hardest part but let me tell you it was easier than the videos I watched on youtube beforehand. My NZXT s340 elite white case specifies it supports cpu clearance of 161 mm and Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT is 159 mm wide. I had no issue of clearance but it was a close fit.- PerformanceI used prime95 to test temperatures of my setup. The temperature of my room is not stabil so this was not a professional test but you will get the idea. Ambient temperature was 17-20 C. Before I forget let me tell you the Wraith cooler of AMD Ryzen 1600 is great for the price you pay. If you want a cost-efficient cooler stick with it. However it was running on higher RPMs even on idle, thus making more noise.I used HWmonitor to check my temperatures.Stock cooler: It was around 34 C on idle and 74 C with prime95 stress test. All with stock frequencies.Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT: It was 30 C on idle and 56 C with prime95 stress test. All with stock frequencies. It was not just cooler but more quiet! The cooler's RPM didn't pass over 450 RPM even with stress test and was very quiet. So when you get these kind of results what would you do? Yes of course I overclocked. I got my CPU frequency directly do 3.9 GHz and ran the same test. This time it was 32-34 C on idle (31 as I am writing this for example) and peaked at 70 C at some point but dropped to 65 C at the end of testing after 20 min. And max RPM was 933 which is %75 of max RPM for this product. (Max RPM: 1300)- ConclusionYou can read reviews on products from professionals on many websites but I think this kind of user reviews are also important for end-user. I am very satisfied this product. I cannot understand why would anyone go for liquid CPU coolers when you have this kind of choices. Some might say aesthetics but I find this kind of tower coolers more beautiful. It is up to your preference but I am recommending this for anyone looking for an after-market cooler.

Was eine Positive Überaschung!
I7 Gen 10 cpu….

A Silent But Powerful CPU Cooler
The media could not be loaded. I got the Le Grand Macho RT yesterday morning. The box comes with all the accessories you need to install it on Intel and AMD systems. You will be pleased to hear that it comes with a full size magnetic screwdriver, anti vibration pads for the fan, and good thermal paste. The installation guide is ok, but I recommend checking some YouTube videos and pictures online to keep you on track. The only thing that tripped me up initially was the fan clips, but after doing it a few times I can now do it really quickly. It has decent clearance for RAM. The cooler is big so you may have to remove it when making changes to your build. For example, when I add fans to the top of my case I'm going to have to remove it. The price you have to pay for having a large air cooler instead of an AIO water cooler.I'm really pleased with how quiet the fan is and the build quality of the heatsink is good. I've only just set up my pc but it overclocking my 8700k to 4.8ghz didn't seem to faze it. I don't think I will have problems going to 5ghz, but I'm going to add more fans to my case before doing that. The Le Grand Macho RT isn't as well known as other air CPU coolers, but the reviews that are out there show that it matches the Noctua NH-D15 for thermals and beats it in the noise tests (the NH-D15 is well regarded very highly).Due to me recording videos at my desk, a quiet PC was important, so I'm really happy with it.I think it looks quite good too. The provided fan is quiet, but kind of generic, but you can always replace that if you want.Recommended.

Who needs RGB when you can just hide your mobo behind this beast
First things first, the Wraith Prism cooler is probably the best stock cooler there is. Period. Sadly it was just too loud under load.Enter Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT. Somewhat charmingly awkward yet strangely appropriate name. See, this is indeed a massive almost 1kg piece of aluminium. Check the photo of it next to the Wraith Prism and a standard Intel cooler. I knew it was big and was still surprised when I unboxed it.On to performance. Even at max RPM (~1300) the fan is barely audible. Also, perhaps harder to describe but equally important is the pitch, which is lower, less from mechanical motor "whining" and more from air blowing over the fins. Long story short, it's much more pleasant. As for the temperature, it stabilised at 72°C running prime95 (ambient 25°C). In other words, around 9°C lower than with Wraith Prism while a lot quieter and also boosting 25-50Mhz higher. Plus I can probably use the extra thermal headroom to get the CPU to boost even higher.Installation was a mixed bag. Preparing the back plate and anchoring mount was straightforward if a bit time consuming. Actually mounting the heatsink was a bit dificult due to the the mounting plate holding it having no guiding and having to line up the holes manually. Surprisingly the plate doesn't lock the heatsink in place so until you fully tighten the screws the heatsink can move a bit off centre. This could be made easier by having the mounting screws be a part of the heatsink itself. Anyways, once that's done comes in my opinion the most frustrating part, mounting the fan. Whoever designed the clips obviously never had the pleasure to use them. The idea is pretty standard, it's the poor execution thats the problem. The clips are just not wide enoug to reach the holes on the fan, especially with the rubber anti-vibration pads pushing the fan even further away. Working inside a case with this massive cooler just doesn't leave much room to fiddle with the fan clip and successfully attaching the fan is almost a miracle. As will be removing the fan from the clips' death grip. Worth noting is the included screw driver with magnetised tip, a quality tool I will use elsewhere as well.At 60€ this cooler is cheaper than both it's competitors, the Noctua D15 and BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4. According to the reviews it beats or trades blows with them as well as with 240mm AIOs that cost twice as much. If your case has enough room for it (159mm) you can't wrong with this one.
