Sony BCTRV Travel Charger -Black

This really is perfect. It is compact, extremely easy to use, and works great. I think it is the best way to charge your batteries whether traveling or at home. I use it as the only way I charge my batteries now. It is so much more convenient than using a cable and having to leave your camera out only to charge the battery. You can be charging one battery while using another. It is easy to attach and remove batteries. The plug rotates in and out for protection. The battery charging status is easy to understand, and shuts off when done charging. Especially in a hotel room, I don't want to leave my camera out when I need to charge and string a cable across to an outlet. If I want to leave for dinner, I'm uncomfortable leaving my camera out, but I might be willing to leave the charger and battery out if I must. Better yet, if I forget to charge a battery overnight, I can still take my camera in the morning out for the day while leaving a battery charging behind. At home, I like to wait until my current battery gets low, then start charging another while I am still using the camera. This way I can charge whenever I want without having to stop using the camcorder. There really isn't much to say. It works perfectly and is more convenient than the charging cable.

I got this right before our recent overseas trip and I was very pleased with it. Suffice to say it works exactly how a charger should work. Plug it in, insert battery, and wait for it to get all juiced up. I will say one slightly weird thing was the battery charging progress meter would turn off once you've finished charging, so for those people who are forgetful or assume the worst, it may appear the battery wasn't charged. But in every instance so far it has charged up the Sony NP-FV70A battery just fine. Other than that, it does have a nice flip-away plug which makes it easy to store while traveling. Charging time is probably around 2 hours-ish, I don't know because in all instances I left the battery charging overnight!

I purchased this travel charger because my daughter plays competitive sports and I do hours of taping inside convention centers at a time. I was using the charger cord that came with my camera, connecting the cable direct from my Handycam into a wall socket, and it was a lot to lug around and then I have to keep my eye on my camera all of the time. This charger is small and efficient. It has 3 green lights which indicate your current battery level (low/med/full) so you can know about how much juice you have. All three lights will light up, and when the battery is fully charged, they all turn off. It's really easy even if you are not tech saavy. I have a Sony Handycam DCR-SX44 and I use a Sony brand V series battery.

The charger works but for some reason mine doesnt display the accurate battery level. The only way I can see where my battery level is, is to put my battery in my camcorder and turn it on. It worked perfectly the first time I used it. The second time I used it and from then on I have had it display incorrectly.

It works great. I received it yesterday and used it for the first time. So far so good. However the description is completely wrong. It does not come with a cable, the charger itself plugs into the wall which is fine by me.

I've had this for a while now, so I've really been able to test it out. It's absolutely perfect, lightweight and compact and it does exactly what it's supposed to do! A great choice if you need a charger... stay away from the cheaper knockoff brands as they can sometimes really harm your batteries! I research all these things... this is the perfect choice if you need a charger for your Sony batteries! I am very happy with this purchase!

I gave it 5 stars for the delivery which arrived a lot earlier than the supplier's expected date. However, I gave it 3 stars for the misrepresentation of the item on Amazon as it appear to be shown to have a 2-pin AC adapter (direct wall mount which is what I was interested in), but the item arrived with an extra cable with a 3-pin AC adaptor instead making it an extra bulky item to pack in the bag while travelling. Apart from that, it seems to be working as described and I'm satisfied with it's performance.
