Bestar Pur Murphy Sofa, Space-Saving Wall Bed for Multipurpose Guest Room, Full, White

Initially, I was skeptical of purchasing a Murphy Bed online, mostly, because I was concerned about the quality and craftsmanship for the, what I considered, a reasonable price. I spent quite a bit of time researching other Murphy Bed manufacturers, both local and online. Saw a lot of bad reviews from various other companies. Even got a quote from a very reputable local manufacturer, who, by the way, indicated that a Murphy Bed purchased online would not be decent quality because they were so much cheaper. Their quote for a "full size" bed was $4,800 (installed), which, for a custom piece of quality furniture, was not that unreasonable but I certainly couldn't afford that. My further research led me to believe that Belstar was a good deal and seemed to be good quality, so I took the chance of the "cheaper" alternative and ordered a full size model. It took a while longer than I'd hoped to be delivered, but I deduced that, that was due to the fact that it is made in Canada and with Covid19 things are more difficult to get, especially from Canada. But, once the product was delivered, I was very pleased with the communication and delivery, very professional and courteous. Enough background, my review is that the Murphy Bed is exceptional quality, very well made, sturdy and attractive. I have to agree with other reviewers, that the instructions were not at all complimentary to the quality of the product. Even though they were lengthy and well thought out, they were lacking various assembly tips and tricks that would have made the process a little less frustrating. Being from Canada myself, now in the USA, it was quite obvious that the translation from French to English could have been better so the instructions could be improved immensely. With that only failing,it took my wife and I a complete day to assemble, which was anticipated, and once the obvious mistakes due to misreading the installation instructions was overcome, it was a great success. We are both very adept at assembly and building, but if you are not, get some help, you will need it. We love the product mechanical and material quality and it is a wonderful addition to my office, where it is installed. Other than wishing the instructions had been better, the only thing I would have wanted is the ability to use a thicker mattress. Please believe the manufacturers warning that it will not accommodate a mattress thicker than 10", believe me I tried. I question the reviewer that indicated she put a 12" bed in the product with no problem because I had to replace my 12" with a much smaller mattress for it to work properly. I anticipated that problem so it was not such a big surprise, disappointing, but not surprising. Well done Belstar, but please get some advice on improving your assembly instructions.

This really is a beautiful piece of furniture! The down side is it takes a long time to put together. The instructions are a little off at times and the way they number the parts makes it a challenge. If they had the bags of parts numbered it would be easier. You have to keep going back to the front page to see what part to use. Now understand my husband built our house from the ground up pretty much by himself. So he is very handy and it took us about 5 hours to put this together. It has to be shipped in a big truck and the company they used called and made an appointment for a Saturday between 11-5 and never showed. So that left us setting waiting all day without even a phone call. The bed itself would get a 5 star without the hitches!!

Loved this bed. Other reviews mention that it was hard to assemble, but two engineers in our seventies did it in a couple of days. Good quality; came well protected in four big boxes with good instructions. I did feel sorry for the FedEx driver who carried them up my driveway.

Enlisted professional contractor/friend to assist. I'm a very experienced craftsman. It took 8 hours of steady work to decipher the directions, properly anchor and assemble. Some the parts are held together with wood dowels and no glue. Other parts were properly labeled, but the directions were only drawings. A certain amount of guess work and mild profanity resulted in the completed project. I looks cheap. The particle board is very heavy and not good quality. There were small damaged edges revealed when unboxing. Fortunately, we had a hammer drill and cement bits, to make pilot holes in the concrete to attached the bed safely. A standard homeowner-hobby drill wouldn't do the job.

I am so disappointed in this bed cabinet. The screws show on the outside of the cabinet. The manufacture should provide screw covers and it should show clearly on ad pictures. If i had know it looked this horrible I would have not purchased it. Plus the doors do not stay open. I had to purchase and install a heavy duty magnet so the doors would stay back. This unit takes more space than a typical Murphy bed because of the swing of the doors. I paid a handyman to assemble. He said it should take 2-3 hours. It was so complicated it took 2 men 5 hours. They said the directions were terrible and the screw holes were not aligned. I regret purchasing this unit! I would love to return it but it us assembled and I would never be able to get back the $500 I paid to have it assemble. On the plus side it was delivered a week early.

An an engineer, I had a lot of fun assembling this product. It took a cumulative 6 hours for me to put it all together. My wife occasionally had to come sit on the bed to keep it from closing. I'm extremely happy with the build quality and our guests say that it's just as comfortable as a normal bed. Pro tip: When leaning the bed up against the wall, instructions tell you to cut out and remove the room's baseboard. Instead of that, take a hand saw and cut little notches out of the murphy bed.

The bed finished looks like a piece of furniture. The assembly requires much time and patience. The directions are not always clear so we needed to contact customer service. They were very helpful and told us to watch the video available on line. The entire process required 14 hours.

Excellent product packaging was great no damage, parts labeled and instructions were great. Read other reviews and was worried about assembly I had no issues did it myself in 6 hours with minimal help from my wife to lift.

The handles that pull down the bed are totally inadequate. The 3/8” screws pulled right out of the 1/2” press board. One of the heavy “doors” fell right off and could have easily injured me if I didn’t jump out of the way. Also, the bracket to contain the mattress is so flimsy and insufficient that the mattress slides down and makes opening the bed very difficult. I had to hire a carpenter to glue and reaffix the handles on the “doors” and create a new handle at the top of the bed to pull it down with. Junk!
