Happily Ever After!
I am not one to take the time to write many reviews but in this case I felt it worth the effort to let other consumers know about my experience with this product. We have a 1 1/2 year old English Springer Spaniel. This last summer he became very ill and was hospitalized for several days. The diagnoses was pancreatitis and hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. He was a very sick little guy and things were very dire for him. Our vet, and the vet who cared for him while in the hospital, were both stupefied that our dog was dealing with these major health issues. He was completely A-typical of the type of dog that suffers from each. He was young, extremely fit, was fed high quality dog food, was NOT given any type of people food, and was always walked on a lead (no carnage eating here!).Anyway, after the long battle of getting our guy to stabilize, we were finally able to take him home after 6 days. He continued on meds for diarrhea and vomiting for an additional week along with being placed on Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Low Fat Dry Dog Food. Our vet also told us to start using Prozyme with each meal we gave our dog and continue to use it once we transitioned off the prescription food and onto the Fromm Weight Management Gold Dog Food. (Again our dog was very fit but our vet suggested using a high quality dog food that was lower in fat that the Canidae Pure Grain-free Sky we were originally feeding him.)I was skeptical about what the enzyme supplement would do for our little guy. He had been through so much and lost 10% of his body weight while he was sick. My vet told me to be patient and that it would take time for his GI-tract to settle down. After 2 weeks of using Prozyme we noticed a drastic and dramatic change in our dog's stools. No more loose or extremely soft piles! He stools became, dare I say... delightful! Smaller, firm but not hard to pass, and regular like clockwork (3 times a day). We have since transitioned to our new dog food and the slow change while still using Prozyme has been successful. Our dog is feeling so much better and is slowly starting to gain weight. He enjoys his food with the enzyme and starts to drool a little when I am preparing his food. I cannot tell you what a huge relief this is after all we have been through.I am utterly convinced that this product works amazingly well. Our dog is happy and healthy once again and no longer even has the occasional "soft-serve" stools that he used to have before he got ill. I will continue to use this daily in his food forever!

Perfect for our IBD, poop eating, runt Rottweiler!
My runt Rottweiler has major issues as a result of IBD and who knows what else. He used to throw up his undigested food every night at 3:00 AM. He also has been quite the poop connoisseur and has even done the soft serve approach fresh from another source (dog's butt) before it even hit the ground. Sadly, he still has a little poop attraction, as usually just one taste will set off a hankering, but it has been a lot better. More importantly, he no longer throws up at night. He still sometimes throws up a small amount of liquid or bile occasionally during the day, but never food chunks, and no longer at night. That alone makes this product worth it's weight in gold to me or worth it's weight it poop to my dog, depending on your point of view.We started using this a few months ago. It took around 4 days to see a difference and we haven't looked back since. Our dog finally put on weight as well since he wasn't barfing up his dinner every night. I will be buying more when we start to run out.We don't know why our dog is a nasty, disgusting creature that has just about every digestive condition known. We do know that when we were waking up nightly, we would secretly pray for his demise. Now it's almost like having a normal dog!

... to discourage one of my dogs from the most disgusting habit: eating poop
I was looking for something to discourage one of my dogs from the most disgusting habit: eating poop. Yech! One theory on why dogs sometimes do this is that they’re not absorbing sufficient nutrition from their food. And some people report success with supplements that include certain enzymes that aid digestion. This supplement contains four enzymes, including Lactose Aspergillus oryzae (dehydrated, fermented), pineapple, and Aspergillus niger (also dehydrated, fermented). It’s a white powder that can be mixed into dry or wet food, and all three of my dogs will eat it readily. There’s little evidence that they even notice it. The larger the dog, obviously, the larger the dose needed. I bought a measuring spoon to keep in the container to make dosing quick and easy. The first day or two, I noticed the dogs had softer stools. Then they returned to normal. And the filthy-habit culprit ceased her poo snacking as far as I could tell (she is not supervised outdoors 100% of the time). The product also seemed to help reduce gas, so fewer dog farts is a plus. Yep, I just used the word “fart” in a review. Twice. This product was inexpensive, easy to administer, the dogs do not mind it, and it does the job. I will likely buy again when we run out.

Worth a try
All in all, its not a bad product. I purchased it originally for two reasons - both our dogs had excessive gas (unbelievably foul-smelling), and one of our dogs we were working with to eliminate his poo-eating. It did help with both of those issues, I'm glad to say, but didn't entirely eliminate them (the poo-eating is an especially hard habit to break). I think with supplements, you have to try ALOT of products before finding one that seems to work for your pet. That can get expensive; supplements aren't tested by any government agency and all you have to go on for effectiveness is what the manufacturer claims and other people's experience with the product. This product did help us, but since it didn't address a third issue we were having (excessive shedding) and only helped on the other two, I do continue to search for other alternatives. But, its nice that this particular supplement comes in so many different sized containers, so you can save some money on the larger sizes.
