A Good Substitute for the HORI Pad
I really enjoy this controller for the most part. The cord length is long enough to where I don't feel a need to use a GC extension cord, most of the buttons feel nice, the functionality is great! Two things I had issue with that are not deal breaking... but more so "Something to Consider". The D-Pad on this controller is large, which is great! The downside is that the pivotal ball in the D-Pad that allows it to rock is a touch too small, making the D-Pad slightly "squishy" sometimes. It's not as bad as most "budget, 3rd party" controllers... but you will notice it if you are aiming for precision. The other thing I noticed when using the controller is that my "B" button did not press well. The membrane pads inside of the controller are all linked together, so I cut the "B" membrane pad out and replaced it with a different one and now have no issues. Food for thought on the button membrane, as I mainly changed it just for my own comfort sake. All-in-all, I would recommend purchasing this controller if you are looking for a good controller to use with the GameBoy Player or any games that function better with the D-Pad.

z button and dpad are impossible bad
If I don't press the dpad on the very edge the whole thing collapses in on the membrane pushing all four directions, the z button uses a different membrane that makes it both impossible stiff and mushy at the same time, like it is a cheap shoulder membrane forces into a face button hole

Erratic Controller
Bought for use with the Gameboy Player, thought the large d-pad would work well with GBA games over the smaller d-pad on the stock controller. The buttons and d-pad feel alright, doesn't feel as good as a first party controller, but not the worst. The issue is that the controller frequently & randomly fails to register all input for 10-15 seconds at a time, enough to make anything unplayable while using it. Not sure if it's due to a poor quality controller port connector, but unplugging and plugging it back into the controller port will correct the issue for a minute or two, before it quickly goes back to dropping all input. It isn't isolated to a button or two when it happens, all input - d-pad, face buttons, shoulder buttons - is lost. Switching back to a first party controller immediately corrects the issue.Bummer that this controller is unusable out of the box.
