Apex Predator Baitrunner Spinning Reel 4000-7000 Series 46lbs Max Drag

These reels are awesome! I fish a lake that harbors some big catfish. I personally like light tackle to fish 5hese brutes but without a good drag you can get yourself in trouble.

Better quality than I expected for the price point. Will reevaluate after a season.

Just got my Apex Predator today. Opened shipping package and the reel box was already open…did a quick inspection and noted while the reel was in a plastic bag there were obvious paint chips on the front of the spool around the drag tensioner. There were a few other cosmetic marks on the reel body as well. Obviously this was a previously sold and returned item. There was no manual or warranty card in the box or bag which also lended credence to the “used” assumption. However, the reel itself appears to function as designed and passed my self tests of the drags, bait runner and anti reverse functions which are what I need it for. Spooled it with 30lb line and now awaiting a live weight test with a 40lb+ catfish.Initially was gonna give it a three star due to the obvious and yet untested functionality.UPDATE: After landing several catfish 3-15lb range finally got onto one likely 50+ however, the reel failed miserably during the fight. After about 5 minutes of fighting with the fish pulling drag, there was a “pop” felt and reeling became heavy and “grating”. Spool travel up and down was sporadic at best. Reeling eventually ceased to retrieve line so had to resort to hand over hand at which point the line broke at the hook. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUYING ONE OF THESE IF THEY ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THEIR FISHING!!! JUNK!!

I've been using the Sougayilang baitfeeder reels the past few months and they've worked well but this reel is sooo much nicer and smoother and made of better materials for the same price. I'm very impressed with it. I wish I would have seen this reel sooner. I have it paired with a 9' King Kat and it's easily my new favorite setup.

Free r the most part reel seems to wind real good, drag not as strong as it should be, worst part is the bail spring is real bad weak so it's junk, for the price guess you get what you pay for for me id never buy another one made from this company ever

I love this reel. I purchased for a rod I built. I now own 2 of them. Looking to buy a third.

Good reel but the drag trigger broke off while testing it before actually fishing.

Great quality for the price. My only issue is that it doesn't cast as far as my other cheaper reels. I might grease/lubricate it, because I've tried adjusting tensions. I'm also using lightweight crank bait and this reel seems like it was built for more heavier duty fishing.
