do you need a subscription? I do not want a camera I have to pay monthly fee to use

I was asked this question about one month ago, but my trial subscription was still in effect. Long story, short answer- yes. I had to contact Arlo’s tech support for an answer. I learned that when my trial subscription expired- I would no longer be able to view my recently purchased camera recordings. In order to continue using these cameras in the same manner, that is, by synching Arlo’s cloud storage” via your Wi-Fi setup- I would need to subscribe. I considered the less expensive $10 per month over another option which had more “bells and whistles,” but costed $15 per month. But then, I found that there is a “work around.” The tech support person advised me that based on my cameras- I could purchase one of two compatible base units, the model VMB4540 or the VMB5000, and that either would eliminate the need for a subscription. I could re-sync my cameras to the base unit, and it would provide the storage, as well as, viewing capability- locally. On Amazon, I purchased the VMB5000, and it’s on its way- I’ll revise this review- once I’ve got it all connected and synched. Here’s what happened when my trial subscription expired. I continue to receive app notifications when any of my four cameras are triggered to record, and in the device section- I can view a snapshot of what a camera recorded, but I cannot view the video captured in its entirety in the library section.

Can you add more more than 4 cameras?

Prior to my recent purchase of the Arlo Pro 4 pack, for my mothers house-I had 2 existing Arlo cameras on my Arlo account which I’ve been using inside of my apartments garage. All 6 are working fine- at both locations. My “introductory package” is due to expire in December.

Can these be mounted under the roof overhang/eave with the mounts that come with the cameras?

Yes, the Arlo Pro 4 cameras may be mounted under the foor overhange. Make certain the fastener is attached to something solid--aluminum soffit may be not be strong enough.
