Way Beyond Expectations
I rented this movie despite the bad reviews because it was on sale. So glad i did. I love Rose Byrne and I love Tiffany Haddish. They are both very strong comedic actresses, although Tiffany has played raunchier roles, and Rose's humor leans towards the drier side, I was curious as to the pairing. It was peeerrrrfect! I mean, there was a moment when I actually teared up because I love a movie about friendship, I mean, long term friendship, ups and downs and in the end, a ride or die. They don't come along often and it's not until you start seeing a gray hair every now and then, or complaining about your knees or wondering why the hec anyone goes to the movies after 8PM, do you look around and realize that the friends you have around you have dwindled down to the the friends you NEED around you and you're happy for the quality over the quantity. This movie touched me on a personal level because of that. A previous reviewer mentioned how she was disappointed over the black woman's portrayal as almost irresponsible and not making good overall decisions, but in my opinion, neither character made the best decisions. Rose character lacked a back bone in many ways because of her past and had problems speaking up or standing up for herself and sticking to her decisions. Flaws showed on both sides and if the roles were reversed, would this reviewer now say how the black woman is being portrayed as weak? This isn't a black and white thing. You can certainly look at it that way, but you'll miss the bigger picture. It was a movie about women, period. Something that Hollywood needs and what women and even men are campaigning for. Let's be happy for that! For supporting actresses, i will never say no to anything with Jessica Sinclair and Jennifer Coolidge. A standout for me though is Natasha Rothwell. I didn't know she was in this movie and my face lit up when i saw her! I first watched her on HBO's Insecure and LOVE her character. Literally makes me laugh with anything that she does. I need a movie where she's front and center, more screen time for sure because this woman's delivery is gold.Overall, this movie was a solid 4 stars for me. It is not a slapstick comedy, it's not a Bridesmaid's sort of comedy, although there was a decent amount of cursing. It really was a movie about friendship, overcoming obstacles that life throws at you, and of course, forgiveness and humility. I ordered my best friend of 23 years who lives 1200 miles away a small "just because" gift right after watching this.

Not bad...
considering Tiffany H. was in it. I don't watch movies with her in them because she ruins everything by her vulgarity and classless behavior. But as a fan of Selma H. and Rose B. I gave it a chance and Tiffany H. was actually HALF decent for a change. Still not my choice but everyone else made her tolerable. I didn't find any comedy in this movie, but 'comedies' in the last seven years have not been funny, mostly lame. Raunchy has taken its place which is too bad. This movie is a C+. Not great, not funny, but entertaining enough not to have to hit the fast forward prompt.

The Power Of Enduring Friendship And….
This film Like A Boss featuring the characters of Mia Carter (Tiffany Haddish) Mel Page (Rose Byrne) who have a very strong and close friendship and own a beauty company together. Mia Carter and Mel Page have a tight knit working group with their employees Sydney (Jennifer Coolidge) and Barrett (Billy Porter). Mia Carter and Mel Page get presented with what appears to be a potential life changing opportunity when the character of Josh Tinker (Karan Soni) approaches the two women about a lucrative option being presented to them on behalf of Tinker’s boss Claire Luna (Salma Hayek). This happens at an interesting time because Mel Page and Mia Carter also have interactions with their other friends Jill (Natasha Rothwell), Kim (Jessica St. Clair), and Angela (Ari Graynor) that indirectly color their perception of how they are doing in their career and money life. Like A Boss gives some clues that foreshadow the element of competition that both women must juggle in addition to their friendship when they are also introduced to Ron (Jimmy O Yang) and Greg (Ryan Hansen) who also have their own beauty business together as friends. The characters of Shay Whitmore (Lisa Kudrow), Harry (Jacob Latimore), Lola (Veronica Jo Merrell) and Layla (Vanessa Jo Merrell) are among some of the other characters that feature in the Like A Boss film in certain key plots (listed from the Wikipedia site).

Great Movie, And the Female Led Cast Was a Plus!
Like a Boss was a Funny, Feel Good, Female Led, and Inclusive Movie. I almost didn't watch because of the ratings on here. But I have learned to ignore the bad rating of Female Led movies because most of those reviews are from people who are intimidated by women, strong women, and funny women. I would definitely watch this movie with friends for movie night.
