Learn slang or some "adult" words
My sister is in training to be an interpreter, this was a gift for her. She said a few of them were different than what she learned, which she chalked up to different slang in different regions. The book was 98% spot on according to her. She enjoyed picking up a few new words. This book has words you probably won't easily find anywhere else to learn, like words you won't find in polite company (but might need in her line of work). Book is definitely not for children.

Handy Little Instruction Aid
This actually turns out to be a handy aid. Not only does it give you the "dirty words" and phrases, but when you read it, you realize there is a need to be careful how you sign normal, non-dirty words and phrases. It turns out some words that we learn in informal, conversational ASL classes can easily be mis-presented or mis-formed as a dirty word or phrase.I recommend this book for those learing informally (conversational classes, books, DVD's, etc) and for those who may be teaching friends or family members. A parent that's trying to teach a child or one person teaching friends some basic ASL might want to read this book and keep it nearby.Aside from all of that, the book provided me some useful examples of some normal, conversational phrases in context and easy to understand. This is really a pretty good book once you get past the title and humorous intent.

Fun sized
This was purchased as a fun gift for a sign language student. The book is smaller than I expected (I don't know what I expect to be honest) but it is the size of a novel and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. That's not a complaint, just felt small to give as a gift. The recipient was pretty happy with it

Great.
I have learned fun stuff with this book. I love this series in Spanish, and it is great in ASL, too.

I should have bought this book a long time ago.
ha ha ha ha ha!!! this book is fantastic. of course, it has a VERY distinct Chicago accent, but many of the signs are still relevant. Also, some of the signs are in English word order, but if you have a decent working knowledge of ASL grammar, you can use this book to your advantage. Do not get this book if you are just getting started. I have been studying the language almost full time in college for at least 3 years now, and I was ready. However, if you are 2 years or less, I would not suggest it without the working knowledge of a Deaf friend or teacher to help walk you through it. However, and excellent book, and lots of fun to look through with your Sign Language Buddies!

Great Book!
This book was exactly what I needed it to be and more. A great book for sign language slang all around. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to enhance their sign language with cool slang used every day! Although I must tell you that it is not for beginners ...it mostly targets those individuals who already know how to sign and want to know more. There are not alot of instructions on how to actually do the signs so like i said you would most likely have to already be somewhat fluent in the language to understand how to perform the signs in this book.

It's okay but needs a new edition
I bought this book because I wanted to learn more slang. I'm not an interpreter by any means, but I do sign on a daily basis with middle school students. I wanted to know more slang and a few cuss words so I can fuss at a student if the interpreter isn't nearby to catch it. However, I am not trying to sneak into a NC-17 movie for the hearing impaired. I was anticipating some curse words but not a smut fest. Not only is the majority of the language very nasty and sexually charged, but some of it just strange. "Roll over and give me a donut." What the heck is that? I'd google it but I'd be afraid a nudie pic would pop up and give my computer a virus half as nasty as the language in this book. It's also not particularly beginner friendly. The cartoons show a sign without any verbal description or movement signification. Another reason I was super excited about this book was the promise that it would show words that you have to be careful signing. I know a couple like never show your teeth when you are signing hungry or it's horny. Another one I have learned the hard way is be careful with pink because it is similar to prostitute. I believe virgin and vegetable are fairly close too. But the book didn't have any. It is the only book out there for slang at all. It gets a star for that.

Sense of humour required!
It says dirty and it means it! I was in stitches watching my girlfriend read through it, just a side note this is ASL not BSL so if you are studying British signs then a lot of these vary.

ASL BOOK - NOT BSL!
This book is on Amazon UK and is listed with other BSL books. IT IS NOT BSL IT IS ASL. (And very English ASL at that!)The book does show the other versions it has, like Chinese, French, etc. But they do NOT have a BSL version. No where on the listing does it say that it is BSL or ASL. This shows that the authors have NO idea how many Sign Languages there are out there.VERY DISAPPOINTED!
