Review: Possibly the best version of Green Lantern out there. - Saw this series on streaming service a few years ago and wanted to see again, so I got the Blu-Ray. Glad I did. The series focuses on probably the most well-known Green Lantern, Hal Jordan. In the beginning of the series, he and fellow Green Lantern Kilowog are sent to the farthest reaches of space by his bosses, the Guardians. They have to go so far out that they need an advanced space cruiser to get there. The cruiser is powered by an Artificial Intelligence that Hal names Aya. She eventually builds a robot body for herself and becomes a member of the team. The first major threat they face is a group of evil characters known as Red Lanterns whose red Power Rings are fueled by Rage and Anger. One of those Red Lanterns named Razer eventually tries to reform and also joins the team. Together they fight the good fight and encounter unexpected foes and allies along the way. Normally I'm not a big fan of computer animated series. They tend to look too smooth and lack any kind of texture or detail. However, the story lines are really great and the interaction between the characters is also enormously entertaining. The mixture of characters and their development is also really good. You have brash Hal Jordan, brutish Kilowog, sullen Razer and innocent Aya and that combination makes for some good story telling and interactions. An odd thing about this series is that IMDB lists this show as having only one season. However, there are two very distinct story arcs that make it feel like two seasons. The series has 26 episodes on two discs with 13 episodes per disc. The first 13 on disc 1 cover the Red Lantern story arc. The second 13 episodes on disc 2 switch to a new threat in the form of the Anti-Monitor who resurrects the android Manhunters (a failed peacekeeping force used by the Guardians before they developed the Green Lantern Corps) and utilizes them as his new army in galactic conquest. The tone and feel of the story lines are very distinct, so this really feels like 2 seasons instead of one. I also like how this series introduces new allies and enemies. Some are familiar to the comics and others were created just for this series. The allies introduced are the Blue Lanterns (power rings fueled by Hope), Violet or Star Sapphire Lanterns (all Women team powered by Love) and even a "Steam Lantern" from an alternate Steam Punk universe (one of my favorite episodes). The enemies are the aforementioned Red Lanterns and Manhunters along with Orange Lanterns (powered by Greed). Of course you can't have a Green Lantern series without our favorite villain, Sinestro. However, in this series, Sinestro only makes one appearance and he's still technically a Green Lantern and hasn't started the Yellow Lantern Corps yet (although the beginnings of his journey to becoming a villain are certainly there). All in all, a really great series. Like most of these Warner Brothers releases, there are no special features aside from episode selection and an English subtitle option. However, the quality of the series is really great and you won't mind the lack of features in the long run. Highly recommended for fans of Green Lantern and Superhero series in general. Review: Another brilliant series gone too soon - If you loved Batman the animated series, you need this series in your life. Produced by Bruce Timm (Batman:TAS), Giancarlo Volpe (Avatar:TLA) and Jim Krieg (Ben10), they gave us an engaging story that not only managed to introduce us to the Green Lantern mythos, but a full-fledged and fleshed out cast that audiences were eager to follow throughout the depths of space. I've been a fan of DC's animated series since I was a tiny elementary student, and I was/am utterly enamored with this show as an adult. The thing that really stands out about this series for me is that the character relationships were so strong, and while Hal Jordan is undoubtedly the lead, the series does not ignore the rest of the crew and develops them all with excellent story pacing. Additionally, big support characters (Carol Ferris, Saint Walker, Ghia'ta, Sayd, Ganthet, etc) are given spotlight and contribute greatly to the overall story, shaping and guiding the development of newcomer characters like Aya (the advanced A.I and navigator of the GL crew's ship) and Razer (a Red Lantern seeking redemption). In the 26 episode run, the show managed to cover a great plethora of themes and moral lessons with intelligent, and fairly enlightened respect while still being clear enough for children to understand--something greatly missed in a lot of today's children's programming. It is so wholly unfair the the failure of toy sales from the live action film, not in anyway associated with this feature, helped to doom this excellently crafted story. I can only hope that the network executives and appropriate higher ups revisit this show and give it the extended run it truly deserves. On a final note, while I and many others will agree that this show was ended before its time, it does not mean that the story itself suffers from an abrupt/jarring ending. While it will definitely leave you wanting more, the series does come full circle to give a satisfying and hopeful conclusion. Treat yo' self--give this series a watch and then show your support!

The series that made me a fan!
First of all, I know almost nothing about Green Lanterns except the little knowledge I knew about John Stewart from watching Justice League and Justice League Unlimited on Saturday mornings as a kid. The movie with Ryan Reynolds (seriously?!) really put me off from watching this series, and I just want to kiss all the people that pushed me into watching this because I never could have been even more wrong in my entire life. I fell in love with the show, the characters, the scenery, and the animation. I'm really picky about 3D animation and usually dislike it but this is GORGEOUSLY DONE. Each of the characters move in an unique way and have excellent facial expressions to get their emotions across to the point where words aren't needed. It's a "show, not tell" type of television that recent children's TV shows have been lacking. I have never been so upset that this show was cancelled from Cartoon Network, deprived of a second season. Regardless of its short life, it's a good series to show to kids and adults alike, full of lessons (nothing too preachy I promise) that I remember from my childhood Saturday mornings. I still hold hope that this series will be picked up for the second chance it deserves. That all being said, I don't own a Blu-ray player, but I will buy one just because I own this, and because I want to see it all over again in high definition.

Green Lantern cartoon series
I really enjoyed this cartoon series. It had a good story line for the cartoon too. Excellent animation. I really look forward to seeing the next installment of this series if the creators make another one.

May very well be the very best show of the millenium. For me, only 'Sherlock' can challenge it. This is so good, I don't even know where to start, but I'll try... This first and (sadly) only season contains 26 episodes. The first 13 are a separate story, and so are the final 13. In the first story, Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Kilowog are fighting the evil Red Lanterns with the aid of vengeful Razer and A.I. Aya. In the next 13 episodes, the same team is fighting The Anti-Monitor, the most powerful being in the universe. The supporting characters, Aya and Razer, are definitely two of the best and most interesting characters ever created for TV. The show has so many surprising plot twists, that it's difficult not to spoil anything, but... things happen. It's an understatement to call this show epic and ambitious. I mean, the final episode makes '2001: A Space Oddysey' look like 'Batman & Robin'. Words can't explain it. It is guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and gasp in shock. The animation is excellent. The CGI style really fits the tone of the series, and it looks (and sounds) perfect on Blu-ray. Unfortunately, this doesn't contain any Special Features. But still, this is a MUST-OWN collection! The best part of the DCAU so far! Of course, it is very sad, that the show was cancelled so quickly, although this means we have 26 absolutely flawless episodes. ADD TO BASKET NOW! THAT'S AN ORDER!!!

Una lástima que hayan cancelado esta serie, de lo mejor que ha hecho DC. El blu ray súper bien.

I picked this up only recently. I’m a huge lantern fan but missed this as I was initially put off by the animation style. I’m pleased to say it grew on me quickly. I’ve enjoyed the series from start to finish. If you’re a GL fan, this is absolutely worth your time. It’s truly a shame this was cancelled. I suspect the writers could’ve done so much more with this incredibly interesting universe. Regardless, watch it. You won’t be disappointed

Una de las mejores series animadas de DC, se ve genial en alta definición, el único pero que le pondría es que no contiene audio ni subtítulos en español, de ahí en más, es geniales.
