I am on a very fixed income and I can't afford Deplin (a prescription folate supplement). My naturopath told me to take this instead; that it was Deplin's equivalent. She diagnosed me with sever MTHF deficiency (double Zygote). This means I can't convert folic acid (synthetic folate) into Nature's folate (B9), like most people can, and I don't get enough folate in my diet. This also means I can build up too much folic acid in my body because my body does nothing with it, which is toxic, so I have to avoid foods with Folic Acid. This folate supplement is designed so that people like me can convert it to folate. I have been taking this for a week now and I can report that I do feel a significant benefit. My depression has lifted significantly. I have more get-up-and-go, a brighter mood. I feel more motivated. It isn't like fireworks or anything, at least not for me, but it is noticeable. My depression is a product of my PTSD. This is a different kind of depression. My regular doctor says that some people have a much stronger benefit "like flipping the light switch on." It works better as you continue to take it. Folate is a vitamin B (B9) and B vitamins work better with other B vitamins, so I also bought a B Complex to go with it. I recommend Pure Encapsulations B Complex Plus. 120 days worth is only $30. It also has MTHF folate. If you suffer from mental health issues, studies show that it is likely you are folate deficient and getting more folate helps people like us. It is worth giving this a try.

This medication has been life changing for me. One year in now and I've ran out and it was a hard week to focus, feel happy etc. Definitely do your research but if you do use this brand. Medical grade. Thank me later

I have only taken this twice, it seems effective and pure. I don’t think I am truly unable to process folate so I most likely will not stay on it, but I would if I could afford it.

I have the double TT genetic mutation on the MTHFR gene which means my body only “absorbs” 30% of Folate and zero of Folic Acid. This product was recommended by a Physician and since starting this product I have noticed significantly improved absorption of folate (via lab work) and other improved health related conditions that are affected by this mutation!**This is my own personal experience and not a recommendation for medical advice for anyone reading my opinions.

Given my family history, it's very likely that MTHFR mutations run in my family. I was experiencing significant, persistent fatigue, but tests ruled out vitamin deficiencies and endocrine problems. The doc suggested that I be tested for the mutation, but also mentioned that I could just try a methyl folate supplement and see what happened. He recommended this brand. He's not generally into supplements beyond a good multivitamin, so I figured if he said it was good, I should try it. It's made a SIGNIFICANT difference in my energy levels, especially in the afternoon. I take another medication that can interfere with it in the morning, so I take this at lunchtime. It took two or three weeks to notice any effects, but once I did? It's been a big help. I avoid taking it too close to bedtime as I find it can keep me awake. If you are taking other meds, it's worth doing a bit of research about interactions and perhaps timing your dose to minimize them. Worth the money and short wait for it to work!

My usual brand of L-Methylfolate wasn't available so I tried this brand. I took it at night before bed and the entire next day I could barely keep my eyes open. I took it earlier, at dinnertime, but it didn't matter. This brand caused me severe fatigue and brain fog to the point I had to lie down for a nap at lunchtime. It's taken a couple of days to get it out of my system so I can function at work again. Of course no returns so that's $25 in the trash.
