Milescraft Complete Doweling Kit with Dowel Pins and Bits (New Version)

This was my first time tackling a wood project that required a lot of dowels, so I picked up this kit. It was affordable, and I trust Milescraft as a brand. At first, it took a little trial and error to figure out exactly how to hold the jig to get the holes positioned where I wanted. That was mostly on me, though. The instructions are clear, and once I got the hang of it, drilling dowel holes became fast and effortless. I did have an accident where the jig fell off my bench just right and two of the positioning pins snapped. I reached out to Milescraft support, and they were fantastic. They quickly offered to replace the jig at no cost, which is the kind of customer service that makes a difference. Overall, this jig made my doweling work much easier and more precise. It’s a solid kit that I would recommend to anyone doing projects with dowels, especially if you value responsive support from the manufacturer.

Great dowel jig kit, well thought out and easy to use. However, If you're going to be doing fine woodwork, do yourself a favor and buy a quality set of brad point drill bits. The ones supplied with the kit are OK, but not great, and tend to wobble while getting started (even shown in their own video), making for a rather loose dowel fit . Also, I recommend that you double up on bits and collars. It's tedious to adjust the hole depth when doing repetitive joints. Easier to just swap out the bits. Bottom line, though... great value, and a great introduction to using dowels for joinery.
