One Hot Summer Day

The photographs in this book will make you forget about the words. I have taught numerous lessons from this book during the spring and summer. I strongly encourage all educators to add several copies of this book to their classroom library.

I first purchased this book back in 2013, and then just now I was sitting thinking about a birthday present for a 4 year old’s birthday party and which books my kids go to time and time again, and this is that book. As a parent, I even enjoy reading it (which matters!). It’s simple but also a complex run down of a typical hot summer day on the east coast (spoiler: it ends in a rain storm). There are popsicles and frying eggs on sidewalks. This is such a great book, I’m sure you’ll love it too. P.S. my 7 year old was 1 when I bought this book and she still enjoys it with her brother who’s 4!

Speech therapy

Like that there are real photos and it features a young girl from the inner city. Neat story line highlighting her experiences and things she is feeling and seeing.

Beautiful pictures that resonate for urban dwellers and lovely lyrical prose. I never grow tired of reading this one with my soon to be three year old.

One of my favorite childen's books I wanted for transporting families for work in my car. Bright, engaging photos of children in fun urban settings.

Not worth it

My daughter is 3 and has loved this book for about a year now. It's simple but captivating. The artist had the right idea when creating this book. This is one of my daughter's favorites.
