Q: Is the ignition source a piezoelectric switch?

Not sure It's a push button electric spark I've had this lighter for a year with No problems. After you get it. Adjust the flame down. It's set pretty high. Use a small flat screwdriver I would buy again Good lighter for the price. Ignition seems well made

Q: When i try to put the butane in, it just sprays everywhere. any suggestions? no flame. no gas noise when i push down the igniter. ??

This lighter does not use any tip adaptor from the butane can. Just use the bare tip without any of the adapters that are included with the can.

Q: What does quick release switch mean ?

It's an easy switch. Instead of an ordinary lighter where you have to flick it just right with the flint, you just press down and release.
