Russound ALTX2D 126 Watt Stereo Volume Control

I have used various impedance matching volume controls in my A/V installation business over the years, and I will have to say these Russound are as good or better than any others I have used. The better Speakercraft ones I have used have an easy access switch for setting the impedance which is nice, because you don't have to remove the control from the box. These have slip on shorting pins, which work well, but just not as convenient. However once you set them you usually don't change them again. They seem very well built and with the 3 different color plates and knobs, you can match most wall plates to the existing plates used in the home. As long as they keep making these, and sell them for this price (+/- $25) there is no reason to buy any other brand!

As an Audio/Video Installer & designer Russound should be ashamed to sell this product without a CLEAR description of the absolute bulkiness of this device!!!! It is very difficult to find deep enough work boxes that a designer would install! Next, it offers a switch underneath the clip on faceplate for impedance matching- to ensure no direct short. However, if you already have a selector w/ impedance matching capabilities than once again you deal with the excessive bulk for no reason! I will give them 2stars for boosting the PEAK WATTS to 126- but lets be real- thats !PEAK! Continuous watts is only 42!!!! Don't be consumed by their 126Watts. It's convenient that they include 3 different color face plates & knobs, but as an installer thats 2more X's the plastic WASTE going into the trash/recycle!!!! I know this review sounds all negative, but..... I only had 3 of them fail/ transformer will most likely smoke.

I replaced a vintage 1992 Russound volume control with this ALTX-2D model, easily.

works well, easy to install

Product works great and easy to install. Came with three different colors for the faceplates so I didn't have to buy an additional color to match the others in my home.

Works great! Using Russound volume controls together with a Russound SS6.2 Speaker Selector Switcher to control ceiling speakers in 6 different rooms.

Good product, bought for our vacation home, installed on a lanai. Pleased with its performance looks great in its location. Would purchase it again.

Over heated in first month of use despite the correct jumper settings and correctly sized control. I would not recommend.
