At least it’s blurry…
Pollen tec screen has totally failed to match the marketing claims of inhibiting pollen and dust. My allergy symptoms are still annoying, and the dust is still accumulating on the window sill at the same rate it did with a standard window screen. If other reviewers think this stuff is working, they are either subconsciously dusting more often, or they are implementing other remedies in parallel. Or perhaps they live in an area where the pollen particles are gigantic, and easily filtered out.Pollen Tec screen can’t work on filtration alone. The openings in the screen are simply too big. I took some Pollen Tec screen and standard window screen into the lab where I work to take some measurements with a microscope. Standard polyester window screen has openings of roughly 2x2 mm (2000 x 2000 microns). The openings on Pollen Tec screen are approximately 300x2000 microns. Yes, the openings are significantly smaller in width than standard screen, but pollens run in the range of 5 microns to 100 microns. A 100 micron particle will pass through a 300 micron mesh as if it wasn’t even there. Pollen Tec claims the screen “electrostatically pulls airborne particles out of the air”, but a single layer is not how electrostatic filters work. Electrostatic filters are multi-layered, the theory being that as the particle passes through the layers, it picks up a charge, and finally sticks in the filter stack. With a single polyester layer, the claim of electrostatic filtration is dubious at best. Just look at allergy masks – a typical one consists of a multi-layer polyester filter that filters out particles down to 0.3 microns. If Pollen Tec works at all, it is because greatly reduces the air flow compared to an open window. Air flow is directly proportional to the cross sectional area through which it is passing. PollenTec screen has roughly 20% of the flow area of an open window. This comes close to matching PollenTec’s own results. On its web site, PollenTec displays a positive report from ECARP (European Centre for Allergy Research) in which PollenTec screen eliminated 90% of the pollens passing from Room B to Room. This result is directly in line with an 80% reduction in flow area. So effectively, Pollen Tec functions as a closed window. (By the way – try to find the ECARP report on Pollen Tec, even on ECARP’s own web site. Good luck – I couldn’t find it anywhere. It would be more convincing if this report existed somewhere besides only on Pollentec.com)But even though I have the air-flow limiting Pollen Tec screen installed in the single open window in my bedroom, pollens are still getting inside. We live in a moderately breezy area, and I can only surmise that even though I’m getting 80% less air flow through the screen, there is still enough wind pressure to drive pollens into the house. Yes, I am certain it’s the bedroom window causing the allergy symptoms. Closed window = no symptoms; open window = symptoms.I can say it was worth the experiment to buy a roll of PollenTec. I am always hopeful of a magic bullet to make my night time allergies go away. Unfortunately, PollenTec wasn’t it. It does make the view outside really blurry, which is kind of cool in a science lab sort of way. The screen is effectively a diffraction grating like you would use in high school physics. Two stars for the blurred vision!

Locks (most) dust out
The window we like to keep open most of the time is on the west side of our house and catches the wind that roars in from the Pacific most afternoons. The room closest to this window is our bedroom, which has always been in need of daily attention to the layer of dust that blew in. I saw the roll of PollenTec Clean Air Window Screen discussed elsewhere and ordered it from Amazon.com. We opted to have a new screen made for this window rather than retrofit the crumbling old one. Popped that screen into the window and immediately noticed that it was slightly darker in the room. Slightly. After a few days I don't notice it anymore. There is still a breeze blowing in, bringing the fresh air to the odd back part of our very old house. I noticed the next morning that there was still a very light mist of dust on the windowsill and the nearby furniture. Then, I realized that for the first time in weeks my eyes were not itching! My spouse is so happy that he is not fighting with the avocado tree in the neighbor's yard, which is in bloom right now. This is great. We have lots of Pollentec screen left, so I'm going to attempt to make a small screen for the other window on that side of the house. After I bought the Pollentec, I received an email from Paul Honnen, owner of Pollentec, asking me to write a review here. So, I emailed him back pointing out that there were no cleaning instructions with the roll of screen or on their website. He replied, saying that once or twice a season to spray the screen with a medium spray from a garden hose. Note: I did not receive any compensation for this review.

A nice upgrade to my windows
I'll echo others' remarks that this screen material does, in fact, effectively reduce dust (pollen and otherwise) from blowing in with the wind. It also distorts the view outside and in, which may or may not be a desirable effect.Between the installation of the screen and a Himalayan salt lamp I set up in my apartment at the same time, the volume of dust in the air has gone down greatly, as measured visually in the morning sunbeam. The 36"x10' roll was exactly 11' long and just enough to cover four 25x27 screens. Installation isn't particularly difficult but there are some tricks not covered in the instructions to ensure the grid is aligned as desired with even tension through the perimeter.Regarding the alignment, this material polarizes light and it makes a big difference to visibility when mounted with a 90 degree offset. On close view, you can see that the grid is rectangular roughly 20x50 per inch. I find that visibility is less hampered with the wider channels of the grid running up and down. When set up left/right, the view through is darker and completely invisible from about 30-0 degrees from the side.I'd purchase this again and recommend to friends.

Blocks particulates better than standard window screen. I'd say 25-50% better with no wind.
Test equipment: Dylos air quality monitor pro (left number: PM2.5 small particles; right number: PM10 large particles)pollen size is usually the PM10 large particle size. This PollenTec screen does block floating particles significantly better than the standard window screen. When there's no wind, I would guess 25-50% for both small and large particles. As it should for having a tighter weave (see picture for old screen vs PollenTec). When there is wind or a breeze, small and large particles are going to pass; spiking the numbers up on the air quality monitor (as seen in picture). Although, it does perform better than the old fiberglass screen. So far, it does what it claims. just keep windows closed if there's any wind and pollen/dust level is high outside.I am using a HEPA grade air purifier (germ Guardian) as well.

Bad product.
I think it was a big waste of time and money, I'm not able to see through the screen very well, everything is blurry.

Didn’t fit well
Good product but it didn’t fit well on my window. Hope there are other sizes available

Good but fuzzy view
Did what I expected it to and was inexpensive for the quality of screen. Exactly as advertised. One downside, Weave structure blurs the view.

Excellent product to keep no-see-ums out
I purchased this product to keep no-see-ums out when windows are open. Other products that claimed to keep them out did not work.

It cuts my dusting in my home in half. Not sure how much pollen it cuts, but it seems to help a little with allergies. It is a pain to clean and not leave streaks.

Very difficult to work with on larger screen windows
I had a very difficult time working with the product. I was replacing screens on 4 and 5 foot tall windows.

Just like a screen just smaller holes.
So far it's like any other screen just a bit smaller holes. For no dust u would need to get a filter. Got to cover three windows.

This screen DOES keep the pollen out!
We purchased Pollentec screening to keep the pollen off our existing screen porch during pollen season (...which is HORRIBLE in SC).

Finally No More Trade Off
This is an amazing screen! I've only had it put up for a day so far, and I can already see the pollen it has caught.

I was so disappointed in this product after having such hopes that I might be able to enjoy open windows again.
