I love my new laptop, but the mouse freezes at least once a day

Works well, hasn't caused any problems so far, and it was a great deal for the money. I don't think it could pull large video games or run a lot of programs at once, but for a normal user it's great.

Just screen is a bit different than my expectation

The laptop is amazing, exactly as expected and more. Runs. Smart smooth and supports processes well for the 8 GB RAM it has.

If all I needed was something to use Microsoft Office with, this laptop would be fine. However, the resolution is pretty bad, and for myself, I've become so accustomed to touchscreens (my other 2 computers are a Surface Book and a Surface Studio) that the lack of it on this device has been driving me nuts. Setup was easy, programs run fine. But the text is grainy, even on app commands; web pages look choppy. I couldn't get the DVD drive to work. A program is included to play DVD media, but the computer would not recognize the disc I put in, so I had no way to test it.Apps are very slow to load, even something as mundane as File Explorer. It took a good 7-8 seconds to load after launch. This was quite surprising.The DVD drive was the only reason I got this machine - there are times late at night when everyone else is asleep and I want to watch something that's not yet available on streaming - and if I can get the drive to be recognized, I'll come back and upgrade the review. But for now this is going to become a sort of emergency or backup machine for the times if-and-when a current household computer breaks down.

The laptop might look fine for the price, however 1366x768 resolution isn't very good for a 15.6" display. It doesn't let you fit much onscreen, and the panel is a low quality TN type with very poor contrast and viewing angles. An i3-7100U CPU is already more than enough for most use such that you wouldn't notice a difference, while the screen in this model is pretty bad. Companies bank on buyers not checking this detail, or knowing what standards to have, but luckily Dell is offering an alternative for those who know to look for it.
