OXO Good Grips Twisting Jar Opener with Basepad

This jar opener is absolutely the BEST! We have another jar opener which is screwed underneath a high cabinet. It works great for most things that need a little extra oooph to unscrew the lid, but I needed help getting the top off gallon milk jugs and I couldn't lift that eight pounds up above my head to get it open. This hand-held opener with gripper teeth solves the problem. My late mother-in-law had something like this, but it had no teeth to help it grip the lid. I would highly recommend this opener and would happily give it as a gift.

My wife loves Rao’s Homemade Marinara sauce. It comes in the most difficult jar to open that we’ve ever seen. Unlike many companies that use this type of vacuum-sealed jar lid which has indentations along the lid allowing for a pretty good grip, Rao’s uses the same type of lid with no indentations, and regardless of how strong your hand is, your hand just slips around the edge. We had tried an Oxo wedge-shaped device that works on some jars but not this one.This Oxo grips the lid firmly, but you will still need two people, one to hold the jar and one to turn the handle, then the lid pops right off. That little rubber mat that is included does not help other than to keep from marring your countertop. I’m a little skeptical as to durability but this thing works very well. I would definitely buy it again if this one broke, but again, on some jars, you are still going to need two people.

Amazing gadget. Very helpful. Light, easy to use, doesn't take up much space. Shipping took a bit long but worth waiting for.

I’ve never really had trouble opening jars—and if I did, a few taps around the lid on the counter usually did the trick. But lately, that method hasn’t been working as well. I finally had to admit I could use a little help. Since I don’t have anyone around to lend a hand, I did some research and landed on this gadget—and I’m so glad I did!It’s incredibly easy to use and makes opening stubborn jars a breeze. For smaller jars (like condiment-sized ones), which are a bit too small for the machine to grip properly, I just use the included gripper—and that works perfectly too. Of course, the gripper can be used on any jar size, but honestly, the machine is so fun to use that I reach for it whenever I can.

This is so well designed and easy to use! It's small enough that it fits nicely in my kitchen utensil drawer without getting caught yet powerful enough to open most all sized bottles/jars. I like the little rubber pad that attaches to the base because it acts as a nice gripper and it snaps into the top tabs of the opener so it doesn't get lost in the drawer. Really handy must have for someone like me with arthritis and it doesn't require much strength to use either plus it's pretty light and ergonomically comfortable. Powerful little gadget!

Best version of an assisted opener that I have used. The rubber base plate is genius.

I found this very difficult to use that with older hands it is not very convenient. It is easy to store.
