The Samus Edition is the Premium way to Own a New 3DSXL
This is an absolutely gorgeous release. I'm a first time 3ds owner and just had to have one because of Metroid. I debated on whether or not I should just get a 2ds and save 50 bucks or go all out. I'm glad I went for it because in person the gold and red finishes look incredibly premium almost as if this 3ds could pop out of Samus's armor! If you're jnto the whole ips screen vs tn screens I'm fairly certain I have dual tn, but it does seem like that's about all their making for this special release and it's certainly all they're doing for the 2ds so I say just go for it. It's hard to even tell the difference so it doesn't really matter anyway. The next thing I'll make clear is it doesn't include the game Samus Returns or an ac adapter. The latter omission is still ridiculous, but I'm not sure why anyone would assume it would just include a completely free new release game; it's just not happening. Be sure to choose the version that includes the cheap ac adapter Amazon offers. Works like a charm.Another reason I'm glad I went with this version is how neat the 3D is. I admit it took me a day or two of playing for my eyes to truly adjust but once they did it was really quite neat. Of course you can turn the 3D off at any time and sometimes I just like seeing the regular display. Finally if you're debating as I was between the 3dsxl Samus edition or just getting a 2ds to save money I would encourage you to think of the quality of the builds. Having used a friend's 2ds it is very light and sort of feels like a toy. This is perfect for use on the go and it's even a little smaller and lighter. But if you're like me and are an adult collector and gamer who won't put this thing in his pocket or take it everywhere anyway, then the bump in quality materials and the beautiful Samus armor design is well worth the extra 50. Indeed, I believe that years from now this special edition will Appreciate in value and Metroid fans who missed it will be searching this one out!P.S.A. Don't forget to purchase the Nintendo Hori screen protectors. They work beautifully and help this slightly OCD gamer rest a little easier.

A versatile handheld that plays 2 systems plus virtual downloads
I have every iteration of the Nintendo 3DS line, but my original small 3DS is on the fritz, and I wanted to upgrade to have a replacement before Nintendo discontinues the system. I chose this over the 2DS XL, as I felt that the 2DS looked much more flimsy, and definitely much less aesthetically pleasing. Plus, I am a like Metroid, and I think the red and yellow shell combination go together nicely. As for the functionality, this system plays all 3DS and DS games to their fullest, so there are 12 years worth of games to be played with full compatibility (well, almost--Nintendo discontinued DS wi-fi gaming I think...). There are loads of virtual console titles you can download and play from the Game Boy, GBC, NES, and the SNES, which is exclusive to the new 3DS and new 2DS systems. For $50, I think it is worth the better build quality and appearance, and I'd prefer to keep the 3D functionality even if I don't use it regularly.I definitely recommend picking this up, as Nintendo is the king of handheld gaming IMO.

Fallacy and borderline scam
The 3DS works. It didnt come in the original box that is in the pictures, It came scratched up, missing a screw and all sticky. I went to deep clean the thing and opened the bottom plate to see what the issue was, and found that something had been spilled onto it and settled on the internals of the console, specifically the battery. I cleaned it all out with paper towels and a load of isopropyl alcohol. The baseplate is being held onto the device by its sides, the screw that was present was stripped and had to be discarded. The console also came with an SDcard with modified files on it as well. This isnt your personal garage sale, dont just sell your dirty and messed up junk. As a metroid collecter who’s been looking for this specific item, i am disappointed. Its only saving grace is that it was able to be cleaned and it functions correctly. Dont buy from this seller. Do what i didnt do, and look harder.

Great limited edition for Metroid fans
Besides what is already known from 3DS and New 3DS, this new edition is awesome. The coloring matches Samus' suit very well, it is very recognizable, and the etching of Samus in the front is very nice. Everything else is standard New 3DS (including the shortage of New 3DS-specific games), the nub (that's not a joystick)( and the placement of the new zl and zr buttons is uncomfortable, and the new size fits better in my hands. It certainly is better and will replace my old 3DS, but the new stuff is nothing to write home about, at least not yet.

Just this listing, but...
the condition was not adequately described. It came damaged more than shown, though functional.

Long live 3D
First of all, they New 3DS... the way it tracks your eyes to maintain the 3D is amazing. I have it on 3D all the way up. I bought this to replace my old Legend of Zelda 3DS which was having some button issues, when I transferred my data over to the New 3DS it bricked the old one, but there is no need to go back because this New 3DS is better in every way. The Samus colors are great. I love showing my fandom for the Metroid series having this thing out. It has many improvements over the previous 3DS, like a thicker stylus and is probably shorter, and they've removed the wifi button and replaced it with a software setting option and they've moved the power button. I haven't played any games yet that utilize the right side controller nib, but I'm sure it's pretty good. I do cramp up a little playing for extended amounts of time, but when you compare it to playing on the small left and right Switch controllers, it is definitely better.
