Copper can block emf. As well as lead, nickel, boron and tin. The question is how much is blocked due to it not being solid shield. The doors of microwaves are full of holes in between where you can see and not see in to the microwave, so I would compare the safety rating to be not 100% as solid copper effectiveness. 60% copper infused bamboo modal and 40% bamboo modal (not copper infused). There is no cotton in this product. The listing just says that it breaths better than cotton
