Well built and functional. I only have a few minor complaints after using it. I do wish you could adjust the width between the two aligator clips. For real small gauge wire (22+) ... it'd be nice to get it closer. Also, the thumbscrews are pretty dog gone tight ... and small. So someone like me with deterity problems ... I need to get tools to actually adjust some of them. Another minor ... the aligator clips can come real close to chewing through thin gauge wire jacket. Otherwise ... the thing is built well .. very flexible ... and does the job. Good deal for the price.

Actually better than I expected for price!It is small, but the base is heavier than expected and it works great.Already assembled.I suppose if you're a man or hard on things, you might find it subpar like other reviewers, but I find it fully functional for my beading and jewelry making purposes.

Works great. Holds very small wires or parts and the magnifier works great seeing very small details. Quick and easy assembly. Heavy so it doesn't fall over easily and nice adjustable clamps.

The best feature of this thing is that it's cheap and it technically does what it's supposed to. That said, for anyone looking at this I would recommend either buying a nicer one or not buying one at all.The problem is that it's so hard to adjust that it's probably not worth it. The joints are locked and unlocked by tightening or loosening wingnuts, which affects two adjacent ball joints at a time. You can't unlock only one ball joint, so you have to correctly adjust both joints simultaneously. On top of that, the wingnuts are cheap, and it's difficult to loosen them to the correct pressure to allow some movement without the joints moving freely and succumbing to gravity. It's not impossible to use, it's just more work to get into place than it's worth.I bought this for one project, and I ended up using other objects to hold the pieces in place rather than fussing with this thing. It would be fine if you only needed the clips in exactly one position, though.Is this worth $9? I guess, but it serves its purpose so poorly that you should spend a little more to get a nicer one, or save your money.

My daughter in law crafts handmade jewelry as a hobby. As a paper crafter myself, there are times when I could use something to hold a piece in place. I bought this as a gift for my daughter in law and have been pleased to see it set up in her workshop and clearly being used. Great tool.

This product exceeded my expectations. Judging from the low price and some of the negative reviews, I was expecting a poorly built, low quality product. I figured that it was worth taking a look at it and if I didn't like the product I would return it. But mine looked great coming out of the box. There were no quality issues and it appears to be fairly sturdy and well designed.I think any problems I will have using this for my soldering project will be more related to my skill level rather than the utility of this product.
