Jon's book is written progressively through the process of learning to cast the same way a competent instructor would approach his class, which Jon Cave is in real life - a very competent fly casting instructor.Each page reveals, with exceptional hand drawings, a clear and concise aspect of casting that builds on the previous lesson and allows you to break down and work on improving small aspects of your casting stroke to eventually improve the entire stroke and become a much improved caster in a more relaxed manner.The end of the book has some neat specialty casts that Jon demonstrates to help in real life fishing conditions.Some of his tips and tricks for relearning and tricking your hand-mind-eye-coordination are worth trying, it was what I had to do in reprogramming my motions that have been creating a wavy ripply line for 40 years.Great book! and if you have the opportunity to take the class, do what you can to get there!

Excellent illustrations of the methods and things to avoid in Fly Casting. I bought it used so the cost was minimal but even at full price it is worth it as a learning tool.

This book is very well written. The numerous diagrams are extremely helpful. Anyone who takes the effort to study and practice the fundamental principles described in this book will be rewarded with a better casting stroke. I have several books on casting but this is my favorite.

For those who have never had the opportunity to attend one of Jon's classes, here is your chance to learn the from the master at a very reasonable price. The principles Jon presents will help a rookie as well as the experienced fly fisher cast at their full potential. The illustrations are so detailed and outstanding that I could actually picture Jon showing the class the importance of the each facet of the cast. Hey, here is your chance to move to the next level!
