Does it show your resting heart rate?

This is a RECOVERY band above all. It is only capable of taking your heart rate information once a day, within 30 minutes of waking, to calculate a Go-Score (based on a 2 minute Heart Rate Variability test). This is an indication of how well your body has recovered from your previous days activities and is used to set your daily activity target based on whether your body is recovered and ready to go or if you need a recovery day. There is no where in the app to see any raw heart rate information. If you want to push your body to the limit and get the most you're capable of then this the only band for you. If you want to know your heart rate, daily steps, track your weight, calories consumed, etc. then you want a different device.

Would this help prevent overtraining (weight training)?]

Yeah it will, if you listen. In the morning when you test for your go-zone it will tell you if your fatigued or ready to go and will give you a go zone score and activity goal points. As the days progress, the reign will get to know you better and better. For example, I ran the other day when the reign told me to take it easy and gave me a very low point score, I ignored it and went for my run and hit a wall at 2 miles, when I usually run at least 4.
