Very Heavy, sturdy, larger size
Brief Summary: Very Heavy, sturdy, durable, larger size. Good for car camping or spare bed at home. Expensive for being made of only steel and canvas. Packs into 38"L x 12"W x 3"H canvas carrying case. 34 lbs total. Weight is major drawback.Details: I firmly believe that Disc-O-Bed has a well-designed form factor — but made a huge mistake in their choice of material composition (steel) weighing over 34 pounds in total. This unnecessary over-weight is because of the tubular steel frame, since the remaining components are canvas and plastic.Steel weighs 490lb/cubic foot. Aluminum weighs 169lb/cubic foot — aluminum is around 1/3 the weight of steel. Even though stainless steel is stronger, aluminum has a much better strength to weight ratio than stainless steel. Aluminum is relatively easy to bend and form while either cold or hot and is ideally suited for manufacturing processes such as extrusion and rolling. If the bed frame was made of aluminum alloy for strength, it would weigh only about 12 pounds — slightly over the weight of one-and-a -half gallons of milk (8.6 lbs/gal); and much easier to carry than 34 lbs. So, the steel composition was in favor of the factory verses the convenience of the customer. A major drawback, especially for tent campers and hikers. And, of course, aluminum doesn’t over its lifetime, whereas the coated mild steel of the Disc-O-Bed will rust with wear and tear as the coating wears off. And the manufacturing cost difference between a powder-coated mild steel and aluminum alloy would be nearly negligible.I bought this for car camping because of its strong and rigid construction, but at the expense of being very heavy (34 lbs). Has sturdy steel frame powder coated. I preferred it for it 34" bed width matching my 34" wide sleeping bag. The tightly stretched thick canvas bed suspended between the steel telescoping side poles is quite a hard surface for the average person's comfort. But my air inflatable Coleman mattress along with a mattress pad or my Remington -30F sleep bag makes it quite comfortably soft.Minor drawbacks are fivefold: 1) Very heavy even for car camping; 2) steel telescopic side poles do not lock together, with only the tight tension of the canvas bed stretched between them keeping the poles from pull apart if either end frame (headboards) are pulled apart to move it -- which would collapse it. But not a real problem so far since bed tension keeps the taut and unmovable; 3) the four legs have a small footprint and could damage (or puncture) a tent floor. I use 4"x 6" blocks of wood to distribute the weight on tent floor; 4) Unnecessarily too heavy to carry any distance; aluminum frame would have cut weight by a third;, 5) too big to fit in a teepee tent having tapered angular walls. This trundle cot sits 13" above ground (floor) and can be retro-fitted with thin flexible telescopic tent poles inserted in corner posts to form support canopy for mosquito netting (Amazon's TRIWONDER Tent Pole 2 PCS ASIN: B07FKJB9V8; and, Amazon's Coghlan's Rectangular Mosquito Net - Single 240 Backwoods --- works great as it extends to the floor/ground - ASIN: B000LGX0H8).My improvement suggestion might be as follows: telescopic thick-wall aluminum side rails, aluminum alloy end boards. In other words, a much lighter aluminum frame; that also poses no threat of rust when exposed to the outdoors. Other than that, it's a solid, sturdy, durable investment. Heavy weight and expensive price are the only real drawbacks, hence the 3-stars instead of 4.

Very durable, good for camping or a short term replacement for a real bed.
After moving into a new house and loosing my queen size bed during the transition I attempted to use several different cots to sleep on while waiting for a new one. The Disc-O-Bed Cot beat all of them and is still holding strong. That being said, buyers should know that some sagging will occur after time, though not much. The basic kit is also fairly low to the ground, so if you are used to taller cots remember the leg extenders. Finally, most cots break because to much direct stress is put on the edges, I learned this early on and broke a cheaper cot like that. while the Disc-O-Bed is tough I still recommend not putting excess stress on the side bars, in other words: don't sit on them.
