Highly recommended if installing any DEI alarm (non Clifford G5 series). You can access features (to modify) using this Bitwriter that you cannot with just the plainview switch. Just by that fact, you should purchase this unit if programming any DEI alarm. And this unit makes it so much easier to program anyways, rather than counting chirps.I'm just surprised that DEI hasn't come up with an app (and a cable to interface) for your smartphone to change settings in the DEI alarm system. Weird. Clifford G4/G5 utilizes Windows to change settings in the alarm system (as well as programming the Smart Windows). I don't know why DEI would still force their installers to utilizle this handheld. Being so, it seems this would be such a worthwhile purchase. You do not need to install the upgrade chip in this unit because it already comes programmed with the latest settings.

I purchased this Bitwriter to make subtle changes to my remote starter. It was easy to hook up, use and make changes. Now my remote starter works every time.

This programmer will make change easier for your unit but it's not necessary to have one unless you are professional installer need it everyday, once you programmed for your car this programmer will storage for life.

this is not needed 99% of the time only a select few ajustments need this piece. buy this if you need a 59 second alarm siren or program 60 seconds without it. 60 seconds is fine for me. trust me before you can get this out of your toolbox and unwind the cords i will be done programming mine the usual method and still have time to laugh at you while im cracking a ice cold beer

I did the whole chirp method the 1st time on my viper 5704 and kinda bugged me, so when the brain died and I got the replacement I wasn't going though all that again so I purchased the bitwriter. first of all don't buy the upgrade chip it comes with 2.9 on it, or atleast mine did. It worked great and was a lot better then count the chirps and wondering if u did it correctly. just plug it in and read all the setting u want to change.Great item unless u don't mind counting the chirps and are not worried u did it all correctly.

All I can say is wow! I should have bought this years ago, and save me money and headache from dealing with installers. Worked as advertised. If you are a diy person it’s a must have for the tool box.

Great product! It came upgraded to the newest software already. I don’t know how I survived without it since 1988 when I purchased my first Clifford Alarm system and have been using them every since. I had to do something because the closest installer near me had left and my two way key fob just broke and I only had my spare one left. It was neat seeing the mistakes the installer had and that he had failed to make the changes I requested correctly. Something like the remote start crank time. It was so easy to program with this tool. Great price and quick delivery from the vendor.

I should have bought this a long time ago, I got the product hooked it and began to program my remote starter. It does what it is design for, the only thing I can see that they could improve on the product is to make the Display a bit brighter.
