Q: is the magnetic or the fabric one better for A 2 YEAR OLD?

I agree with RA Morgan , but I am not certain about magnets and under 3s if they are still putting things in their mouths. The pieces are quite large though. I don't remember whether this product has an under 3 warning. It was certainly OK for my 3yr old grandson.

Q: Will the seperate components eg Days/date/months etc stick directly onto fridge without the card?

No, they are part of the card, the days, months, season weather etc are individual magnets though.

Q: Do you think this would be OK to be hung outside if under a shelter?

I don't think so, any strong wind or rain or frost would destroy it.
